Yes, to a large extent, that is unfortunately true. Many years ago people bred from a "foundation" of dogs or family. Now breeding is done based on the "pocket book" and what it will buy. The idea of beginning your own line is the correct way to compete and breed. This requires more work and a basic understanding of genetics and how it works in regards to "breeding dogs". Breeding pit bulls is more difficult since you have to fight them to prove their worth and that is against the law. So, you probably do better raising "Gold Fish". Pedigrees that are not accurate are usually the handy work of a person who is not a serious breeder, but had other intentions pertaining to the dogs. My pit bulls have accurate breeding history weather it be registered with ADBA or some other breed registry organization. This type of pedigree is very important and may the novice be shown mercy....
