Mr.Magoo
He was out of the first litter of W&W'sRed Inferno x SORONA
WIDOWMAKER.His temperament was good.He loved females and tolerated males up till they bothered him.He was an all around dog with everything one could hope for.
He was a good dog no more no less.He was my wifes pick out of a litter of nine.Which by the way came down with parvo and he and a brother and two sisters survied how I'll never know.I was in New York working at the time.I came home for a week to find the wife up to her elbows trying to save them. What was the kicker was that his other littermates did not make it meaning the other five.I did not take him nor his brother nor his two sisters to the vet as they looked like walking death.(the kicker)his other littermates that looked good and acted as if they made it passed the critical stage all died leaveing Magoo and his brother and two sisters to pull through and like I said how in the world they did is beyond me.If one read my posts throughout the years one would remember saying that after all these years he and 19 other rednoses were all around dogs not great nor ever portrayed to be.Now do some math and figure just roughly out of all the dogs of rednose lines after over thirty years he and those other nineteen were what some would say good with the others over a hundered plus being game to just pets if that. Now not being the smartest
person by far that was alot of money and time wasted.I made no claims about him or the others.
Maybe the best thing to come out of breeding the rednose dogs was that they made peoples eyes twinkle. One thing about the SORONA X WILDER CROSS was the solid dark red filtered with pepper.I remember the conversations with WIlder with him asking me how could I get so many solid red dogs in one litter. He stated that if he could get one pup that was solid red out of even three litters he was doing good.He also said that when people called and come by his old place the first thing they asked was is there any solid rednoses in the litter.
Widowmaker and Inferno were mated seven times and the average litter except the first one was seven to nine pups and out of that number better then 90 percent was solid red.
But the color did not make the dog as magoo's dam was a dark red but with a blak nose and that was out of a litter of nine with four being rednoses. And to say that it was a great litter would be overstateing. Most were below average to average.Yet the sorona dogs such as peppers sire SORONA CAYENNE PEPPER AND ANOTHER FEMALE KNOWN AS SORONA JO JO WERE AS GAME AS GAME GOULD BE.They were from the old killens cid x sorona trouble crosses and when mated with each other was a success for their owners.
Inferno was the main stud in the area and the only pure wilder dog around at the time, the other being sorona ke-lo
or cayenne pepper as he was called. So that is how things started as I only bred widowmaker to magoo once and her dam to her grand sire once all others was with Inferno and once with a heavy corvino male which produced a fantastic litter.
INFERNO was as stated a WILDER DOG that did not come with the gene pool of old geronimo 11,that is the only reason a breeding like the one that produced magoo was even thought of being made.Almost every heavy Geronimo11 dog showed his rotten genes in tight bred litters.Yet crossing the Sorona into that gene pool was what made the dogs dissposition so good.
But the best thing about the rednose dogs was that they paid for themselfs meaning vet bills, required shots yearly such as rabbies and the tags for all other dogs to boot, plus food, lodgeing, chains, fenceing, whlping kennels etc.But also they made good dogs with good temperments that people wanted as show dogs or weight pullers,or just plain pets and for the people that did other then these things it was trial and error like with everything else meaning other lines.
Reddogs just like today are dogs that catch that twinkle in the eyes of those that go to the shows. They are also in demand as family pets more so then other dogs. They are of course considered by many as OFRN of which there is none left and if by some mircle there is not you nor eye nor anyone other then the one that had it would get to see or touch such an animal.
But like all area's of the country some dogs become well known, magoo, inferno.morgans red bear, maybe one if not the most famous dogs around mid central Florida that went by the name of Smith's OTTO OTTO,this dog was the number one stud around these parts. Also one if not the best all around dogs even though his color was not like his sire and dam as he was black brindle and named DRACULA or by his owner name with drac attached to it.He was a great dog.And to leave out the dog that made sorona a gifted line down here SORONA KE-LO OR CAYENNE PEPPER MAGOO'S GRAND SIRE.
But to be honest although magoo was what made the rednose dogs from here stand out he was not my pick for the best rednose dog bred. The very best to come from here was Magoo Jr.He was an ace of ace one weight puller and pulled close to eleven thousand pounds. He beat the best of the best.
He once pulled a muscle and pulled several thousand pounds on three legs.He like all the dogs that were bred were people dogs,(AND BEFORE I CATCH IT FROM OTHERS "YES"THERE WERE DOGS THAT WERE TAKEN TO THE VET TO PUT TO SLEEP AND NEVER BRED BUT ONCE AS THEY WERE NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE.
Perhaps if people went through their stock and found the
needles in the hay stack that causes maneaters to errupt they would indeed take them to have put to sleep and for those that could not do this have them netured and kept only as family pets and never to be out of the owner eyes.
Some say the owners of such dogs made them go that direction
most say its the genes as no matter how well one line is there is always that chance for a sour grape.I know this has nothing to do with Magoo but all of these lines of the AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER ARE TAKEING SO MUCH HEAT.There will always be the good the bad the ugly in animals and humans alike.
But to signal out one breed of dog as the most evil and most aggessive animal on earth is unreal.
Its true they are in most times in the wrong hands and its a fact that they are indeed the most missunderstood dogs there is today.
Its going to take anyone with this breed of dog to come together and fight for this breed tooth and nail.
Alot of people donot believe but there our many that their
quest in life is to make the breed extinct and extinction is forever no matter how one looks at it.If there is no unity in this fight for the breed there might not be a need for all the forums and perhaps one day in some museum there will be a skeleton of a APBT as a dog drove to extinction.
If you have any questions I can help you with do so as I donot have anymore dogs and have more time then one needs.
I donot know it all and never will but I'll try and help anyone serious in saveing this breed from extinction and the laws put on the books daily.

Bill, can you give any info. about this dog? Please
>give any info. you are comfortable giving. By the way,
>how was his temperment? I am guessing that he had a
>good temperment as I have seen some of his offspring
>who did. Thanks.
