Subject: Elephant Man - John Hurt

I first saw Mr. Hurt in The Elephant Man. I can't remember seeing such a remarkable piece of acting. This was quite long ago, maybe 20 years or so. I made it my business to see as many movies as I could that he made. I saw him in Midnight Express, I Claudius, the one where he plays Quentin Quisp, and many others. One that I really loved (I don't remember the name of the film) but it was a true story of a horse racer who overcame cancer. In every film he makes he takes on a different charcter with such effortlessnes and perfecfection that he always seems like a different person. He stays out of the limelight, but in my opion, he is one of the best actors of this generation. Now he has taken on sci-fi and action adventure and he is just as good as he was in any of his other parts. Just a remarkable actor.
