I just wanted you to know that I had read ALL of your
message below but I did not have time to respond. Last week
was homecoming for our school, which meant even more
craziness than usual, my nephew had 3 football games over 7
days (we later found out he played the last one with a broken
wrist!), then I visited with relatives out of town this past weekend,
whew! I am trying to recover this week. I have a four day weekend coming up and I really need it.
Anyway, I was very glad to read that school is getting a little bit
better for you and that you are finding activities to join.
I read a newspaper article today that reminded me of your
message about the ton of books you have to carry this year.
It seems a report came out a decade or two ago stating that
overloaded backpacks were causing back problems later in
life. A new report refutes this earlier report. It seems that
weight is not the overriding factor in backpacks causing back
problems, it is the way the weight is distributed in the bag, and
how the bag is carried. If you put heavier books next to your
back, put both straps over your shoulders, and keep the bag
at a height no lower than 4 inches below the waist, you should
have no problems. So, "Mommy" LynnBo is telling you to be
sure you follow those guidelines. I have scoliosis (spinal
curvature) which causes me some back problems ( that and the
fact that I'm approaching 50) and I can assure you that
you want to avoid that.
Now, have you read all of this message? If you and I ever met
face-to-face do you think either of us would let the other get a
word in edgewise? LOL
Check back from time to time and let me know how you are!
By the way my nephew (with the broken wrist) will be taking a
6th grade trip to Columbus in February to visit, as my sister so
eloquently puts it, "some museum." Do you have any idea
what museum 6th graders might make a 3-hour trip to visit?
Gotta go now, my fingers hurt! :>D

Just a question for anyone who knows the Bible well enough to help me... If not I may have to actually read my family's copy. For my Spanish 020 class (Advanced First Year Spanish) we studied a story called Génisis by Marco Devini, it's a modern interpretation of Genesis from the Bible. My Spanish prof asked us to compare Devini's story to the Biblical story, but no one in the class (25 kids) knew the real version of Genesis, so we got extra homework to figure out what happened on the 7 days of Creation ahd to translate it to Spanish (It feels really weired to have religious oriented homework considering that I went to public school for 15 years- and no I didn't fail any of the grades- there are two years of kindergarten here and 1 extra year of high school).
But I digress.. So my homework help question is this: What happened on each day of the 7 days of Creation- I'll do the translation myself (that's the actual homework, so I'm not cheating)!!! Just the basic points. If no one knows, that's cool, I'll either find that Bible that's somewhere in my house or search the net. Thanks a bunch!

Okay right now we're doing all review in Algebra, but a problem came up in my homework tonight. The problem? Negative three to the fourth power. I am sorry I can't make the little 4 on here. But I know how to *do* negative three to the fourth power, it's like (-3)x(-3)x(-3)x(-3). You get some form of 81. But I don't know if it's NEGATIVE or POSITIVE 81. The extended form of the problem would suggest a positive 81 (as there are an even number of negative signs, and even number of negative signs = positive answer) but the exponential form, three to the fourth power, only has ONE negative sign, which is an ODD number, which would make a NEGATIVE 81. And the worst part is that my thirty dollar calculator doesn't even know the meaning of exponents!! GACK!!
Someone please help!!

- Well here is another year for me! -- KatieS, 19:34:20 08/25/03 Mon (pleiades-45.cmh.jadeinc.net/209.57.24.245)
I have very mixed feelings about high school right now. First of all, I REALLY miss middle school. Everyone does. Half the freshmen were crying this morning, the other half just had the worried, scared, sad look on their faces. I was crying before my first class and in the beginning of it, but I stopped when my teacher introduced herself to us. My first period is spanish and the teacher is very nice, then english, and that teacher is very nice too. Then I had biology, and I don't like biology very much... for one thing I don't like the classroom - it's weird. And there are too many sophomores in my class... they kinda frighten me. Even though I'm friends with some. Then I had Modern World History... it's okay. Not as good as social studies last year though, I miss that alot. After that is tech foundations (aka typing) and it's okay... kinda boring because I already know how to type. Then I have lunch, and I have a few friends at lunch (even if I didn't I'd just do my bio homework) so it's cool... After that is Home Ec which is actually really fun and I'm looking forward to. I know one of the upperclassmen guys in the class because of a mutual friend and he's really nice to me. After that, my last class of the day is algebra 2 (I liked it better in the morning). My algebra 2 teacher is nice - and my sophomore friend says that he's a good teacher. I hope so because algebra is hard. Our homework tonight was really easy though, it was reviewing exponents (POSITIVE ones at that!) and we were allowed to use a calculator! WOWNESS! Eh, I'm sure it's basis to some more polynomials, LOL.
My least favorite thing about high school is my bus. The guys in the back won't stop saying the F word and saying rude and obscene things. I think I'm sitting in front tomorrow. The VERY front. LOL.
My favorite thing is probably... a few classes. Spanish, English, Home Ec, and Algebra. You wouldn't believe how happy I was when I got into algebra today... 4 people in my class I used to know but got separated from in middle school, several people from my middle school algebra class, and even a super smart eighth grader who comes over from MY old middle school to take the class. Wowness!
Anyways, I think it's going to be better than I thought, but, I'm still absolutely petrified with fear. TOO MANY TALL PEOPLE! LOL!
I hope everyone else's beginnings to school went well (if there's anyone out there). I guess we're back in business now with the homework helping!

Well. I think I lied. My schedule this year puts spanish, english, bio, history, and tech all in the morning. Spanish book is an inch thick. English book is two inches thick. Bio book is two and a half inches thick. history book is two inches thick. Spanish workbook is half inch thick. English binder 1 inch thick, bio binder one inch thick. Trapper keeper is two inches and stuffed full. Thats a TON of books. LOL. And then in the afternoon all I have is my mathbook which is barely an inch and a half, my Home Ec. binder which is an inch, and my trapper keeper. LOL!!!!! Wow last year I was complaining about some four or five inches of books... LOL! Anyways. Thank God they let us carry bookbags or I'd die with only five mins to go to locker between classes if you want to.
I was bored so I decided to post her, see you people later.

I got an A on that one, which brought my total grade up to an A- with my homework grades (I have 100% of the homework). Then we take this mid-chapter quiz, and I miss like two. My grade goes up to 94%. Yesterday, we took a biiiiggg test. I only missed TWO out of fifty - my grade goes up to 95.5%. EEEK! I'm getting an A in ALGEBRA TWO! OMG! :D LOLOL.

I just wanted to wish you luck. I know you must feel nervous and scared, but remember that you are not the only student feeling that way. I just graduated my second set of advisees, which means I have freshmen advisees this year. I could see the fright in their faces, but I assured them that even our seniors would have some adjustments. We have several new faculty members, old faculty members have moved to different rooms and a new auditorium is being built across the easiest accessway we had to the building that houses the gym and shop classes. EVERYONE had reason to feel lost this year! I bet some of this will be true for your new school. You are a very bright young lady and you will become a welcome addition to your new school in no time. Try not to miss your old school too much; as much as you liked it, you are never going to be a student there again! One of the first things I do with my freshmen is to tell them to quit saying, "Last year at Foley..." and start saying, "From now on at Southern..." because from now on they are at Southern! The sooner they accept that, the sooner they will feel a part of our school. Also, all of the faculty tries to pay special attention to our freshmen, I'm sure the faculty at your new school will, too. I bet that the fear and trepidation you might feel tomorrow morning is replaced by excitement and enthusiam by the afternoon! Now, you go get 'em, girl.

- One more of my summer activities ;) -- KatieS, 22:35:34 08/04/03 Mon (pleiades-19.cmh.jadeinc.net/209.57.24.219)
One more thing I am doing this summer that I am really excited about and wanted to share.... Along with my mom and one other lady from our church, I am teaching VBS to preschoolers this week. We started Sunday night - it is SO fun! The kids are absolutely *adorable*, though I can name three to five who were a tad bit... er... troublesome. We had alot of fun though, and overall, the kids were really good. Even this one little boy who is constantly causing trouble (he got put in time out and the entire time he sat there screamed "HAHA!" every time someone got upset over something...) seems to like me. They are adorable, constantly crawling up onto your lap and asking to hold your hands. And OMG this is so funny - they refer to me as "teacher". Wow. I have never been referred to in such a way before (I feel special! LOL!) They walk up and go "Teacher, I have to go potty! Teacher, he took the apple! Teacher, can I be line leader?" LOL. They are so cute. OMG, last night we had THIRTY ONE kids for THREE HOURS. It was craziness. Thankfully they moved a few over to a different class today and we only had 19. Now I understand why there are laws and rules about class size. I'm thinking of writing my kindergarden teacher a long letter of appriciation (there were forty six of us). LOL.
Anyways I wanted to come and share my joy :)
Later

But we had an excellent last day, except that I am now very sunburned (I TOTALLY PREDICTED IT!) from sitting out by this pool behind our school. But overall I think it was a perfect end to a perfect year. I guess not much more homework for the next few months unless someone does summer term or summer school. I'll still be back to check the board every day! Love you all, anyone who is lurking!

Here are the problems and how I did them as well as the correct answers.
Problem #1:
8a-40 a-8
--------- * -------
40-3a-a^2 2a^2-8a
8(a-5) a-8
---------- * ------
-a^2-3a+40 2a(a-4)
8(a-5) a-8
---------- * ------
-(a-8)(a+3) 2a(a-4)
8(a-5) 1
------ * -------
-(a+3) 2a(a-4)
8(a-5)
---------
-6a^2(a-4)
4(a-5)

-3a^2(a-4)
Correct answer:
-4(a-8)
-------
a(a+8)(a-4)

In our science class we have been assigned to make a home biome. This means we will have a consumer (animal that consumes something else for food), producers (plants that produce oxygen and energy), and decomposers (things that break down dead material into nutrients). The system is closed to the outside world, so it needs oxygen and food inside it.
I would like to get some ideas on what animals to use, especially the consumer. It needs to be a fairly small animal that doesnt eat much. A plant-eating animal might be desireable because then the prey wont need to reproduce. Thanks for your input.

Okay... here's the problem:
A contractor has at most $33 to spend on nails for a project. The contractor needs at least 9lb of finish nails and 12 lb of common nails. How many pounds of each type of nail should he buy if common nails are 55 cents/lb and Finish nails are 60 cents/lb?

First of all, I don't know how to write a system of THREE inequalities... it hardly looks like enough information to do one or two. I don't need anyone to write them for me, I only need someone to explain where you get all of the information and how you might put it into an equation. Can anyone spend twenty-eight years on a desert island all alone? The novel, Robinson Crusoe shows faith in a person to survive purely on determination and will. It manages to persuade us that some things that seem impossible may be possible. Crusoe is on the island for exactly twenty-eight years, two months and nineteen days. The way that Crusoe successfully adapts to the island through his religion, his determination to survive, and his self-awareness.
Religion has been major factor in Crusoe¡¦s survival on the island. God plays a crucial role in determining Crusoe¡¦s actions and fate for his survival. The determination and will to survive is what gives Crusoe a reason to believe in religion. He is able to transform to a new person out of the surrounding, anonymous wilderness. His life on the island would have been more difficult without God at his side. He is grateful for God for opening a new path for him, as a result, he became a more open and free person, ¡§I thank¡¦d God fro being there, yet I sincerely gave Thanks to God for opening my eyes¡¨ (Defoe, 114). When Crusoe marks the passing of days ¡§with knife upon large post, in capital letters, and making it into a great cross.¡¨ (Defoe, 64) it shows that the cross is a symbol of his new existence on the island just like how a Christian cross is a symbol of the Christian¡¦s new life. In addition, Crusoe reads the bible everyday to seek divine guidance from God. The effects of reading the bible is a positive note for Crusoe because his decisions on the island became more composed than he was before. He no longer follows his own will, but bows before the will of God ¡§Each of his actions are followed by a passage of reflection in which Crusoe ponders over the problem of how it reveals the intentions of divine providence¡¨(Colderidge, 2318). However, the importance of religion hadn¡¦t come along until a series of events that nearly caused his death, ¡§ The sprouting seeds, the earthquake, his illness and dream, are natural events that we watch Robinson painfully and imperfectly learn to spiritualise to read as signs of God¡¦s presence¡¨ (Hunter, 1-22). While it¡¦s important to be grateful for God¡¦s miracles, Crusoe realizes it is not simply enough to express gratitude by praying to God. Crusoe figures what he needs most is, repentance. The necessity of repentance marks a turning in Crusoe¡¦s spiritual consciousness. After repentance, he complains less about his fate and views the island more positively. This is how his attitude towards God has helped Crusoe adapt to the environment.
His determination to survive also contributed in his success in adapting to the environment. Crusoe arrived in an unknown environment yet he still made it his home by overcoming any obstacles. He is able to master his situation and his fate that brought him on the island. Early in the novel, he blames himself for disobeying his father¡¦s advice or blames the destiny that drove him to sea. However, in the later part of the novel, Crusoe stops viewing himself as a passive victim and strikes a new note of self-determination. His determination paid off, as he became a hero by becoming ¡§an architect, a carpenter, a knife grinder, an astronomer, a baker, a shipwright, a potter, a saddler, a farmer, a tailor, an umbrella-maker, and a clergyman¡¨(Brown, 54-60). These skills that Crusoe developed revealed his determination and willpower in order to survive on the island. It helped him to adapt to the environment by using the resources around him and using it efficiently. ¡§Crusoe learns that by working with his surroundings rather than loathing in his misfortune, he is able to find and use everything he needs in order to carry out life¡¨. (Defoe, 106) His determination to survive enabled him to provide himself a constant supply of food. Each new edible item marks a news stage in his mastery of his island. It also represents Crusoe¡¦s ability to integrate the island into his life. ¡§ The physical aspects of vegetables growing on the island represented the spiritual and emotional growth that is taking place in Crusoe himself (Peck, 96) His hard paid work paid off as he was able to turn an uncivilized island to an island for mankind. This is established when Crusoe declares himself as the king on the island. ¡§I though myself very rich in subjects; and it was a marry reflection, which I frequently made, how like a king I looked¡¨ (Defoe, 217) His life on the island would not have lasted very long if it wasn¡¦t the willingness to survive Crusoe¡¦s character showed in the novel.
Finally, Robinson Crusoe uses his self-awareness to adapt to the environment Crusoe doesn't become a beast even though he was on an island that enticed him to do so. He didn't lose his human self to the isolation and the barbaric existence he is living in. As Crusoe is living on the island, it deepened his self ¡V awareness. It caused Crusoe to development mentally, physically, and spiritually. He becomes introverted by ignoring the outside society in order to preserve himself. He looked at who he was and truly learned who he was while isolated on the island. ¡§By acquiring a sense of place, a sense of self was established¡¨ (Butler 99). He gained his characteristics based on his living standards on the island. He feels important of staying aware at all times. This is shown through the journal that he writes in everyday. He keeps details that are with little importance such as finding a few pieces of wood. ¡§The Journal thus provides a means to increased understanding and control of the self¡¨(Defoe, 114). It keeps him grounded in reality and he doesn¡¦t lose track of himself. The importance of self-awareness is also shown in his fear of being of consumed by the cannibals. He is put in a radical situation where someone else is above him in the food chain. The fact that he is removed from a restrained but comfortable society indicates he's discovering new things about himself because he is in a totally unfamiliar situation. The extreme stress will cause him to act in ways that he hasn't before. For example, the discovery of a footprint on the sand represents his confused feelings toward human companionship. The footprint foreshadows an attraction to mankind. However, Crusoe takes the footprint negatively, assuming it is the print of a devil or an aggressor. As a result, ¡§He must always be on guard. He never loses the agonizing the sense of being watched¡¨ (Brown, 54-60). His sense of security has increased, as he must always be cautious around his surroundings. Finally, Crusoe expresses his views on self-awareness through nature. This is demonstrated when he teaches his parrot to say the words ¡§Poor Robin Crusoe, Where are you? Where have you been? How come you here?¡¨ (Defoe, 143) This shows that Crusoe is doing a self-reflection on himself. He is beginning to feel the effects of being lonely on the solitude island. This is how self-awareness contributes to Crusoe¡¦s adaptation to the environment.
In conclusion, being stranded on an island for twenty-eight years is an intolerable task. However, Robinson Crusoe is able to shows us that through his religion, his determination to survive and his self-awareness that it is possible to survive on a solitude island. It was his destiny that brought Crusoe on the island, and it was also his destiny to survive on the island.

Island Project Problem HELP PLEASE -- Andrew, 21:15:48 04/23/03 Wed (2Cust97.tnt11.det3.da.uu.net/67.217.126.97)
Design an Island
You have been commissioned by a wealthy billionaire to build an island! (When money is no object, anything can be built.) The island you design must have an area of exactly 24 square miles. There is no requirement on the perimeter. The billionaire wants to divide the island into the 24 square mile sections to sell to people wanting a place to build their vacation home. THe land pieces can be like any of these:
water
land water - water on 3 sides = $15,000
water
water water
land water OR land land- 2 sides = $10,000
land water
land
land water - one side = $7,500

land land = $5,000

Design the most expensive island possible. Make a map of this island. Include color and be as detailed as possible. Show the divisions between each of the 24 plots that will be sold. Someplace on this map, list the AREA and PERIMETER of the island. What is the price of the entire island?
Now design the least expensive island possible. (The island still must be 24 square miles.) Make a map of this island that shows the divisions between each of the 24 plots. Someplace on this map, list the AREA and PERIMETER of the island. What is the price of the entire island?

Sorry, just felt like posting that... LOL. You know what? I dreamed about school again last night. It was really weird. There was this mall attatched to my school, and we all went running through it in slippers, and me and my one friend kept running into each other... (her mom was there, and her mom looked like her, in real life, they don't look the slightest bit alike LOL) and there was this really nice house attatched to it too, and it was full or rooms, all with a double bed and a TV, like a hotel sort of, me and my friends were watching TV and eating popcorn and throwing candy at each other, LOL. And my one teacher was ice skating in the entrance hall to the school, LOLOL!
You know, it's really creepy when you start to dream about school. I mean, yeah, dreaming about JAG or something (most people who post here know what JAG is, if you don't sorry) I can understand because that's something you really like/are obsessed with...... But my friends think it's weird if I am obsessed with school, LOL.
But I do love my school. Friday we had alot of fun, despite this awful test I had to take (and almost got done with, too...) and OMG so many good things have happened this week. I moved up to fourth chair in band! And for once I'm getting my algebra (as in understanding it... for the time being) and I did this project in the last few weeks that I worked REALLY hard on, and I got a REALLY good grade on it, to me, like the best grade I've ever gotten. I had all of three huge projects due last week, and I got all of them done and am really proud of the work I did.
Is anyone else having such good fortune? If you're not, VENT! Go ahead, vent! Maybe someone can help! If you are, feel free to share your stories and your joy! if anyone ever reads this board anyways... LOL.
Talk to you later, even if you're a ghost person!
Katie :)
Ghost person... is that an oxemoron? Did I spell "oxemoron" right? Don't feel like finding a spellcheck...

I need help, but it doesn't involve homework... it's about high school. -- KatieS, 22:51:08 02/03/03 Mon (pleiades-40.cmh.jadeinc.net/209.57.24.240)
Next year, I have to leave my beloved eighth grade and go to high school and be the baby again. Moreover, I'm going to a different high school than alot of my best friends. Friends who have been there for me through everything, who I'll really miss. Since many of us are getting stuck in the ASP track, we'll have like no time to talk. And plus, I really love my teachers this year, and next year I can't help but think that I couldn't possibly get as good of teachers as I did this year.
I think I'm really going to have trouble adjusting. As of now, every time I think about it I get this uneasy feeling in my stomach like you get if you're homesick or really really nervous about something. Not jittery nervous, sad nervous. It makes me cry, really.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom or anything to help me with it? I dunno, I'm just scared I guess, or something.
Thanks,
Katie

- I'm in college, and I'd say yes and no... depending on the issue, and who you talk to... if you get up and tell the dean of finance in the middle of a student concerns convo that your lightbulb over your sink still hasn't been replaced 3 months after putting in a mainteinence request, they get you a light bulb the same day =) (our student concern convos get extremely heated, and if its something simple they can fix, they do in an attempt to keep us from getting even more angry about stuff =) (NT) -- Aria, 11:52:31 01/29/03 Wed
I would say definitely YES. When I was in college, there was a professor that apparently ignored female student’s in class and in his office hours. If a female student raises her hand he would not give her permission to ask her question. If a female student showed up at his office to ask question, he would turn to his computer and ignore her. So finally one day one of the female students, who were a foreigner, filled a complain. The Dean asked the other students and got more or less the same story. So the professor who was given a two year contract, a Harvard graduate, was let go after only one semester. (NT) -- Rosie, 12:23:18 01/30/03 Thu

I really need help with this problem here:
Tom and Rachel each have a collection of coins consisting of only pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. Both collections have the same cash value, but they have different numbers of each type of coin. In particular, Rachel has four more quarters than Tom, but Tom has more of ever other type of coin. In fact, Tom has a total of 32 more coins than Rachel does. If rachel has 23 nickels, how many nickels does Tom have?
I was thinking that you would set it up like so-
p+5n+10d+25q=a+5(23)+10b+25(4+q)
p>a
n>23
d>b
t=32+r
Where do I go from here? Is there something I'm missing?

I have one more week of vacation left!!!! Man that seems like a long time, LOL... I actually kinda miss school because every time when I went to school, if I was having a bad morning, my morning classes and my friends would cheer me up. If I had a bad time in band and choir (not uncommon... especially the last week before break... our substitute was awful) then sixth, seventh, and eighth periods would cheer me up (those are "the good classes") But this week I'm stuck babysitting for 3/7 days, I'm supposed to go to my dad's 2/7 but I'm not planning to, and the other two I have no clue what I'm doing, LOL!
Am I really that weird for liking school?? LOLOL! Seriously, I've met like one person in my entire team (all of the people who have the same teachers as I do) who agrees with me. LOL!
Well since it was quiet I just felt like writing a short note, I'll talk to you all later (if you're out there)

Hi you guys,
Yeah I know there haven't been any new posts for a while, but... well I couldn't help some people earlier, and I'm sorry about that. My own school work has gotten quite demanding lately... just today, I spent my entire lunch period on Algebra homework (solving systems with substitution... complicated, IMO) only to come home and spend thirty more on it plus forty five studying for a big social studies test tomorrow that we only found out about today... Fingers crossed. I did great on the last one, but this one seems much harder to me even though it's only worth half what the last one was... but anyways to the point, I'm sorry I haven't been here for you too much as of late, I will try and be here more. If you notice anything horribly wrong with the board, there is contact information at the top at the contact the moderator link, and my emails are usually in my posts.
God Bless!

At my school in our Health class, we get this electronic baby doll for one weekend out of the year. It's called "Baby Think-It-Over" and the purpose of the project is to discourage teen pregnancies. They cry at random intervals, including about four to ten times per night. You have to carry the baby with you all weekend and only the special key (Strapped to your wrist) can make it stop.
I GET MY BABY THIS WEEKEND!!!! Everyone thinks I'm weird because I'm happy about it, but they're adorable, and everyone in my class who doesn't have theirs this weekend wants to hold it. LOL! We got to pick out clothes and diaper bags, it's so fun!!
Just wanted to share that, I'll let y'all know how it goes.

There are 30 engines in an automobile company's warehouse. It is known that 5 of the 30 engines have defective oxygen sensors, but it is not known which engines have the problem. Three of the engines are to be selected at random and shipped to an assembly plant. In how many ways can three engines be selected if at most one of the engines can be defective?
I appreciate the help!

- Rational numbers and equations (aka ALGEBRA) -- KatieS, 21:35:48 10/08/02 Tue (pleiades-47.cmh.jadeinc.net/209.57.24.247)
Okay here's the problem.
6a+4
----- = -14
3
I did:
3(6a+4/3) = 3(-14)
6a+4 = -42
6a+4-4 = -42 - 4
6a = -46
6a/6 = -46/6
a = -7.6 repeating or -7 2/3
However, when I did the check it didn't add up, I ended up with -45.6 = -18 and I know that isn't right. Can anyone identify what I did??
Thanks,
Katie

- Just wanted to post something quickly RE: 9/11 -- KatieS, 21:47:05 09/11/02 Wed (pleiades-32.cmh.jadeinc.net/209.57.24.232)
I know this isn't exactly a *crowded* board, but I wanted to post here anyways, this being the first anniversary of the day that changed our nation. I wrote this poem last night and I sent it around to all of my friends, so I figured I'd post it here as well. God Bless you, everyone!
One day, a year ago
We woke up to a normal day
People went to work or school
Children rushed to play
Then terror struck within our country
Horrors that I cannot describe
Women weeped and children cried
For those who lost their lives
Families went to churches
People went to pray
They reached to God in their horror
Why, their trust, would he betray?
Then slowly everyone realized
The best was brought out that day
Our country was brought together
And thanks, they did pray
For United We Stand in our country
Under God we stay
God Bless you, and your families
I bless you on this day
I don't know how good that was, I'm not a poet, by any means. I just want to let you all know GOD BLESS YOU! I'm praying for you all!

- I HAVE TOO MANY BOOKS!!!! -- KatieS, 21:55:53 09/05/02 Thu (pleiades-20.cmh.jadeinc.net/209.57.24.220)
I need someone to whine at. So I came here. LOL. And no, it's not about homework.
I have a social studies book that's an inch and a half thick. I have an algebra book that's an inch thick. I have a language arts book that's two inches thick. I have a science book that's two inches thick. I have a 1 1/2 inch binder, a 1 inch binder, and 2 1/2 inch binders. I have an agenda book, a pencil pack, "An Acceptable Time" by Madeline L'Engle, and a clarinet. I HAVE TOO MANY BOOKS AND STUFF LIKE THAT!!!! It's so frustrating, I have to carry the bulk of it all at once, plus I have to carry my friend's books for her because she can't beacause she broke her arm. WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO LIGHTEN UP?!?!? I got knocked over by a football player in the hall today, and I landed on top of my books and he landed on top of me... this is NOT a small kid. I nearly fell down the stairs with the bulk of my books, I got an F in gym today because I couldn't participate (I FORGOT MY SHOES! I was wearing high boots and a skirt!!) And I accidentally sat at the prep table at lunch because my friends filled up our table so much there isn't any room for me any more so I sat elsewhere and turns out it was the prep table which stinks!! LOL!
I didn't have a good day.
I didn't have a good day yesterday either because everyone thinks I'm going out with this kid that I can't stand, and I don't know why they think that because he hates me too and I've never dated in my life because no one likes me and my father would kill me, so... LOL. Sigh. Thanks for listening to me rant.

Hi Katie and everyone :-) -- BellFan hopping over from CB online!, 17:49:29 05/31/02 Fri (fia218-71.dsl.hccnet.nl/62.251.71.218)
I read this addy in a message on Catherine Bell online and thought I'd stop over to say hi!
Katie, this is a great idea :-) I love it that you took the initiative to let people help each other with their homework throughout this forum :-)
I shall tell you a little about what I do. I finished high school last year with a MAVO education (Dutch system, we have different levels and the higher the level the longer the duration of your education, mavo is a 4 year education) I started a marketing and communication education after that and will finish my first year now, I have 12 hours of economics a week so it has been pretty rough but I really want to pull this off and end up in the world of theatre and tv so I managed to get good grades! I am almost 17 now and I will graduate when I'm 19 or 20 :-)
My favorite subjects in high school were English and Geography :-)
Well this is Beefy's school career so far, I'm not really good at explaining school subjects in a language that isn't my mother tongue (I'm a Dutch) but I'll sure hop in here once in a while and if I can ever give anyone a cheer up about school, let me know and I'm with ya.
Sending a hug out to all of you :-)
love,
Beefy aka BellFan

- Squishing, squashing, and translations -- KatieS, 20:49:40 02/27/02 Wed (pleiades-47.cmh.jadeinc.net/209.57.24.247)
Okay, so there is a quadrilateral with the coordinates A(3,1), B(6,5), C(11,5), D(8,1). We're supposed to do the following transformation on it and then tell if it will be similar or not similar to the original figure. The transformation is (2x, 3y).
I can't figure out whether you're supposed to do a squash, a stretch, or a translation, and I can't figure out how to make (2x, 3y) into a squash or a stretch.
HELP!!!!

Someone posted 237 large banner files on this webpage. The page took a long time to load, and I even never got it loaded.
I do not know what was in those banner files. But I deleted them all. I need everyone to know that posting several large banner files is not acceptable. I plan to write this in the forum description too. If you need a banner file to help you with homework, post it INSIDE the first reply. For example, write a new message explaining that your file is inside the first reply, then post a reply to your own message and put your banner file in the "Type your message here" part. Never in the main message index.
If someone would be so kind, I would like to know what those files were, so please tell me if you got them to load.
Continuance of this behaviour could lead to a ban of HTML from this forum and/or the forum's perminant deletion.
