I get yearly colonoscopies from a great doctor. She takes her time and does the exams without the mind-numbing conscious sedation that most use and the exams are painless. I have had 3 of them and have never had to fart afterwards; when I asked her about this she said that a good doctor will usually be able to suck the air out thru the scope when the are done with the exam, eliminating the need for the patient to expel it. I asked about a rectal tube and she looked confused; she said that some use them, but thaat the scope is a 5 1/2 foot hollow rectal tube with suction and it's easy to suck out the air. Most doc's don't bother with this, they just let me patient suffer and try to pass the air themselves.
