I require very high volume enemas for deep cleansing, usually a long colon tube is best but requires someone that knows how to insert it. I found that using a 'Procto' examining table almost forces you to retain an enema.
To duplicate this at home, I built a stool about 8 inches high, 30 inches long, padded. Placeing the knees on this and going into a very deep knee-chest position allows you to take a much larger enema and retain it without the fluid pressure on the rectum which is what triggers expulsion. You can comfortably increase the volume of enema and the length of time you retain it without the rectal pressure. Gravity works in your favor and allows the transverse colon to fill first.

hi- when i was about 17 years old my parents would go out of town occasionly and i would stay with our neighbor who was a widow 50 years old. i usually had problems with constipation and she would give me a 2qt. plus retention enema. she would have me undress and lay down on a large towel on her bathroom floor. i would always have to lay down on my back and she had a small pillow for my head to lay on. she used a regular douche bag with a large colon tube attached to it. these retention enemas would last 30 minutes or until my stomach got real distended. they werent very enjoyable to take but they did relive me of constipation.

dear anita-i had a similar situation as you when i was about your same age 17, i would spend the the weekends with my grandmother. she was a firm believer that all young females needed cleansing enemas. every time that i stayed with her she would make me have a retention enema.grandma would tell me how many ways a good enema would help a young female to keep her "system healthly".she would make me get completely nude and lay on her bathroom floor. she would use her douche bag and would put a bardex inflateable hose on it. even though she lubricated it very well it always hurt when she inserted it.i would have to take at 2qts. and it would take her at least 20 minutes to administer it. i would get over the toilet and then she would deflate it so i could expel the enema solution. i can remember when it was over i felt cleaned out.
