 When we receive enemas in Simms podition dressed in a nightgown and bathrobe, hardly anyone except the enema giver sees more than a hose disappearing below the bathrobe. This is one of the advantages why we take enemas left-lateral.

If a total stranger, like a nurse was helping you, I can see why you might prefer the left-lateral. Would you make a different choice if a friend, parent, or sibling was helping you? And does the sex of the one administering make a difference?
