How long ago was this - pre-1960s judging by the kids names?

Sue,
This happened only a couple of years ago. Why do you ask?
The kids have visited us twice since then. Once at our place and once at their place. Both visits resulted in the kids getting enemas again, as prescribed by their mom. I was privy to being their enema giver again, a couple of times. They preferred that their enemas be given by me, although I did help their mom and my wife with the enemas as well. We have grown into a great and trusting relationship together.

I don't know if any of what was described in this thread happened or not. However, this I do know. When I was a kid, and I am 57 now, my grandmother gave all her grandchildren enemas and lots of them...grandchildren and enemas.. I don't think that happens alot these days.

But, I could be wrong.

john- at the present time i am 25 years old. but when i was 16 and visiting my grandmother and this is just a few years ago. she noticed me holding my stomach one night and asked me what was wrong. i made the mistake of telling her that i had minstrual cramps. she told me to undress and go to her bathroom that she was going to give me a warm herbal tea enema that was good for cramps and would purge out my system.this is exactly what my mother would do to me. as much as i hated to i did what she said. she had me lay on my back and used a long colon tube on me. it took her about 20 minutes to give me the 2qt. enema. which by the way did seem to help me.

yes i certainly did give enemas to my grandaughters. they usually visited in the summer. their ages were 14and 16. i would always give them warm enemas for menstrual cramps. and sometimes i would give them enemas just to clean out their systems and prevent constipation.
