Marlene, I owe you an apology. I don't know why I didn't answer your post immediately.
When I take enemas myself I am usually feeling good and take an enema until I feel like I am pretty full. I don't force myself to take even a full 2 qts if I don't feel like it.
When I have a severe asthma attack and the meds cause severe constipation my mother, on the advice of my doctor and her long experience as a nurse, usually has me take a dose of castor oil mixed with orange juice, and once this has the desired affect, gives me one or more large soapsuds enemas followed bu a large rinse enema. I am not feeling good at all on these occasions and am uptight because I know that she will be using a colon tube inserted as far as possible and I will be made to take a large volume enema.
My mother is a very caring person and these enemas really help me out but the experience is not always pleasant.
