Subject: Rectal Dilators

I've occasionally seen Rectal Dilators for sale, some new, some antique and about 100 years old. They are advertized as "a cure for constipation" among other things. I can see that steaching the rectum would ease the passage of poo.

Also, some have a "gas vent" whith obvious function.

Recently, however, I saw a set with provision for connecting a hose to the dilator.

This could be for a couple of purposes, to vent the gas or to give an enema of some kind.

Does anybody know or have a link to the instructions for a dilator set with the hose connection? I'm sure, given their age, these are not sex toys, but genuine (quack) medical devices.

Those do not have the hose connection.

I'm not looking for a source, but rather information on how they were to be used.

Hmnnn, I see what you mean Sean...

I don't think my anus would take that at the moment !

Have you tried the double inflatable "Bardex" type nozzles. They are really strange. You barely feel the enema going in, and certainly don't leak a drop with a good large nozzle. Not for the feint hearted, but if you are seriously into enema play this is the way to go...

Stephanie,

They come in sets of different sized. That was a handy photo.

The double balloon nozzles seal, not dilate.

For me, the Klystra enema nozzle KB-3 (1 3/4" wide) is the best in order to stretch the anus and in the same time you will be able to take a high enema in a very comfortable manner.

I have several of these and filled the hollow center with epoxy so it could be drilled and tapped for a hose barb. They work very well for administering enemas with the drawback that they are short and the head of each is not much larger in diameter than the shaft so they slip out easily- especially when lubed for enemas. Be careful and hold them in and they are great.
