The enema bag was for the relief of any digestive problem. My mom always said that she wouldn't spend money on laxatives as long as the enema bag was available. Why disrupt the entire digestive tract when she could go quickly to the "bottom" of the problem with a very reliable enema canful of warm soapsuds that worked within a few minutes.
