I've been told that enemas can help with anxiety and insomnia. Is this true and if so, are there any recipes someone could recommend for it?

I know there is some suppository that could help you to sleep, like SEDATIF PC.

Yes, while I was in the hospital I was given a number of suppositories. I think they were for upset stomach, but it is hard to know since they often do not explain what they are doing or why. They don't want you to forget that you are the dumb patient and they are the all knowing nurse. I must have had at lease 10 suppositories pushed up my rectum the first few days after my operation. I'm glad all suppositories were given by good looking female nurses. All but one nurse knew what she was doing and pushed the suppository way up inside so it would not slip back out. The unexperienced one must have been anti rectum. She would not push her finger far enough in to keep the suppository from slipping back out. I had to tell her to push it in further to make it stay. She eventaully got the idea and pushed the suppository way inside and it stayed long enought to do what ever it was suppose to do.

A good soap suds enema that really cleans you out completely while not one of life's most pleasant moments, can really relax your whole body since there is no heavy or stuffed feeling in your colon and that gives your body less stuff to have to work on digesting and pushing along.

To Beth:
Yes use Chamomile Tea. You can buy it in the gourmet section of most up-scale grocery stores.Bring 1 qt of water to a boil remove from the heat and steep 6-8 bags of tea leaves for about 5 minutes. Cool the tea to about 102-105 deg. F. Slowly take about a pint and hold it for 10-15 min if possible then without expeling slowly take the rest and hold for as lomng as you can. This is a retention enema so the longer yiou can hold it the more effective it will be.

There are a few websites selling Melatonin suppositories. They seem to work well, except they are expensive. About $120 for a pkg. of thirty.

When I was very young but able to ride a bicycle, I helped my brother with his newspaper route. There was a lady who knew that I stuttered alot, and she said that what would help me to stop stuttering was an enema. She knew what she was talking about. A good enema series helps me tremendously.
