I have been hospitalized a few times for various surgeries. Those times in the 60's were especially memorable. Nurses of those days were very enema efficient. An enema was practically guaranteed either as a prep at the beginning of a stay, or as a necessity prior to release.
As time went on, enemas were less common. It was still possible to get one in the 70's and 80's, but disposables were all too common. These days, it's almost impossible to get a Fleet's. Is it any wonder that nurses of today are less efficient at giving enemas?
