Through the years, I have used many different kinds of soap for my enemas. Of course Ivory bar soap was often used, but I also liked Dr. Bronner's unscented bar soap as well. I tend to like a soap that does irritate (stimulate) the colon as it works. But cutting to the chase, years ago I used to use Conti bar soap as well. I seem to remember that it was as irritating as ivory in an enema solution. For awhile, I hadn't used it. But very recently, I purchase some more bars and tried several in an enema. To me, Conti soap was not as I remembered it. Does anyone here know whether they modified the master formula to cause the soap to be let irritating? Or, am I wrong in my assumption?

It's been a long time since I have last posted. An excellent soap for an enema is Kirks' Coconut Castile fragrence free soap.If you go to www.kirksnatural.com you will find a "uses" section where there is a question "can it be used for an enema? Kirks responds that it can.The soap is available from many sources.Just Google the name.I find it to be non-irritating and gives an excellent "cleaning out".I fill Davol Paris open top enema bag, which holds about 2 qts,12 oz.,fill it near to the top with 108 degree water, holding the bar of Kirks between my thumb and middle fingers I immerse the bar into the water in the bag and rub it 20 times between those fingers. This seems to give the right amount of soap solution for me.I fill the bag to the top ,keeping the enema to the mentioned degrees. This is a comfortable temperature for me.The bottom of the bag is hung about 2 1/2 feet above my anus in the Sims position. On occasion, when I am really "stopped up"I use a fairly heavy bungee cord from the top of the shower door, when the full bag is hung from it the bottom of the bag is at the same 2 1/2 ft.As the bag empties, the bag rises and using a flow meter the flow remains about the same so the pressure remains the same and doesn't lessen.I have found this to be a very effective way to take an enema.I follow the initial enema with 2-3 plain water enemas as a rinse.I also like to use a heating had on the small of my back or abdomen during the enema, very relaxing.I have been taking enemas for over 65 yrs.and am still finding more comfortable and efficient ways to do so.Any comments or questions ? Please post.

Maybe my post was not so clear. Sorry. My focus is upon the soap brand, "Conti". Am I imagining something that isn't so? Or was Conti more irritating than it its present formulary? Just asking. Thanks.

My wife uses Ivory bar soap for the whole family. It doesn't seem to burn as bad coming out, and comes out easier with the plain water rinse enema.

I've started using Neutrogena Glycerine soap. It has a very "interesting effect." I use a 2 cup measuring cup and funnel to fill my 3 liter bag. I let the warm water flow over the bar as I pour it into the bag, keeping the suds low. I suggest trying a small one first, say a quart or several large bulbs.

Enjoy!

Ciao
