Is there a rule thumb dictating how long it should take for an enema to go in? Like, so many minutes per quart? (I hope the answer isn't so many quarts per minute!) I recently timed one of my "standard" 3-quart enemas. (I'd never done this before, timing it with a watch.) It took nearly 4 minutes. Does this sound about right, or too fast, or too slow, or what?

For me over the years, with the bag hanging no more than 18" above, the longer/slower/gentler it takes the enema to flow in, the better.

My standard two-quart enema usually takes about 5 to 7 minutes to run in. I hang the bag so that the bottom of it is about 2 feet above my hips. At that height I have to keep the tubing clamp partially closed to slow down the flow rate. I find that the cramping is more tolerable from the lower flow rate. The bag height does help to build up pressure to force through blockages as they arise.

Though I like to keep it slow and steady, sometimes the erotic side takes over and I orgasm without meaning that to happen. After that, the enema is not easy to tolerate. When that happens, Then I evacuate and fill the enema up to the top and go slow, maybe three quarts. It could take 30 minutes. (the second enema, i.e.
