What ever happened to the good old ivory soap that we all used to get from mothers? It was not to long ago that you could buy it anywear, but I see now that all you can get is this new ivory and new wrapper, it just does not smell like the old soap and it does not work as well as the old soap did in the bag for a good cleanout. We can all recall that smell of ivory I guess that is gone for ever. If someone knows wear I can get some hopfully on the net let me know. Thanks

I didn't know it had been changed, but you can still get it on Ebay. At least, while supplies last.

I just bought a 3-pack from a supermarket yesterday. I pondered whether the cashier thought that it was to be used for an enema, or not. These days, with the multitude and variety of soaps out there, I see Ivory's prime use is for enemas.

What do people in Europe use for SSE's? Do they have Ivory soap bars or not?

Has anyone ever tried Pears Glycerin soap? It has been around for years and was always though to be mild.
Would like to know.

John

The old Ivory liquid soap, the one without all the chemicals, has gone the way of the rotary telephone. I've seen the bars on occasions, but I don't usually look for them. Now days, my wife and I use Castille soap, found mainly in health food stores. It works great, but nothing will ever replace the old Ivory liquid.

Seems to me that my mother used shavings from the old time fels naptha laundry soap. It made a great deal of lather. That soap came in a large bar about 4.5 inches by about 3 inches wide. I do know for a fact that it was used as a soap stick or suppository. She cut a pear shaped piece, wrapped the big end in some kind of paper and usually lubricated it with a small dab of cold cream.

I still use Ivory soap and am able to purchase it at our local Wal Mart. Always brings back fond memories of childhood experience.

Someone mentioned "Fels-Naptha" and yes that was used at our house also particularly in the 1940s.It was used mainly to wash our clothing with - - we had "hard water" and Fels-Naptha would still make suds even in the hard water. Mother never used it in enemas only the Ivory soap was used for our enema injections.

The smell of Ivory Soap was a turn on for me, as I was given enemas at home until 17. Later on by my 1st wife. The smell of Ivory Soap gets the juices flowing even today.
My wife buys it in supermarkets.

I don't know what soap mom used. All I saw was a pan of soapy water in the sink and the black bulb on the sink.

Terror filled me as I pulled down my pants and I laid over the toilet seat
