 I agree with Summer that there was more attention paid to children's bottoms a generation ago. Cultural attitudes have changed regarding anything rectal. Very few children today have experienced a rectal temperature or anything involving a bare bottom. While I did not enjoy the attention my bottom got as a child, I look back on those experiences as relics of a time of innocence.

It was almost inevitable that a rectal temp would be followed by an enema, and it was convenient for mom because I was already bare-bottom on my bed.
