There are many people who have this fetish who never got a rectal temperature growing, or don't remember getting them. Just as not everyone who got rectal temperatures growing up ends up with this fetish. Fetishes develop for many reasons and childhood experiences may or may not play a role in that development. For example I know people with a spanking fetish who never received a spanking while growing up.
