I believe it was around the same--perhaps a half to a whole degree higher, but for whatever reason, I can still hear the school nurse saying, "102.5," but draw a blank on what exactly my rectal temperature was at the doctor's an hour later. Maybe it has to do with the fact that--as I explained--the oral reading seemed like it might have an impact on whether or not my temperature was taken rectally at the doctor's. But once I was lying spread-eagled on the examining table with a thermometer parked in my rectum, the suspense was over.
