Mine was taken rectally in the ER after a night of drinking with my girlfriends. I threw up so much that i asked them to take me there before I passed out. I had no idea it was taken rectally until I asked for the transcripts of my visit because i had to know what was done to me or if any medications were administered. turns out I got a whole lot more. Apparently my butt was the star of the show they gave me an injection in my butt for the nausea too!

A few years ago during a Thanksgiving weekend I was literally knocked out by the pain and vomiting from a migraine headache. My husband took me to a local ER for a "cocktail" (combo pain and vomiting) injection and IV hydration. The "cocktail" was given deep into my butt just below the hip, and it hurt!
After the injection I was kept on IV in a darkened cubicle for several hours to sleep. Earlier, while I was throwing up into a bucket, one of the nurses held me still while another nurse inserted a probe to take my rectal temperature. It was very quick. I remember hearing it beeping. My husband said they took another rectal before I went home. I was so groggy that I didn't remember that at all.

I used to suffer from migraines too. After a series of medical treatments that had limited success, I tried acupuncture, and they have never returned. That was 20 years ago. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Tim. I have a girlfriend who underwent acupuncture for migraines and it helped her, too. I've been too whimpy to try. I don't like needles, but this sounds like it could be effective. Thanks again for the info.

You won't feel the needles, since they're only on the outermost layers of the skin, and concentrated on specific pressure points. Trust me...the migraines are 1000 times worse than any type of treatment.
