When I was little, my Mom used to read to me, from a children's story book, while taking my temperature. She almost always said, "Now, hold still" before inserting the thermometer....and "there" when it was in. Mom would hold the thermometer in my bottom, letting go only to turn the book's pages. I enjoyed all the sensations of the thermometer being slightly moved around, when her hand would let go, and then return to it. I still like to hear my temp taker say "Now hold still" and "there", when having my temperature taken in my bottom. Very nice. :) Jenn.
