In this Norwegian educational film from 1981 a six year old girl has her temperature taken several times by her father. Although the actual temp isn't seen on camera there is a close up of the thermometer with melted vaseline on it and the father is shown lubricating the thermometer.

The rectal temperature taking was interesting even if not shown, and the girl handing the thermometer back to the father after it registered was an indication of her maturity. What was shown is something I remember vividly from my childhood colds and that was the girl being given nose drops. Not too many people remember having that experience, but mine was very similar to the one the girl had, except my head was over the edge of the bed, and hers was tilted way back to position her nostrils in the same direction. Would anyone here comment on having nose drops given to them and how similarly you were positioned for the experience and anything else you can remember about it?
