Rectal temperatures are desired should the caretaker of a youngster be prefer to use a glass thermometer to take the temperature of a youngster and the youngster is not thought to be capable of keeping a glass oral thermometer in his mouth intact. The general rule of thumb has been to continuing taking a rectal temperature across the board through the age of five years old. From the age of six years and above, a youngster may have his temperature taken rectally with a glass rectal thermometer should his caretaker find him unsuitable for an oral temperature using characteristic such as an intellectual deficit (indicated by struggling in school, unable to follow instructions, etc.), poor behavior, emotional issues, and so forth.
