 I am 65. When I was growing up, my mother had a very thick medial book dating back to the 20's. I don't recall any rectal temp photos, but there was a photo of a pretty young nurse demonstrating the giving of an enema to an infant. The baby was on its back with the nurse holding both ankles up and back (the diaper position) Hanging about 2 feet above the baby was an open top red enema bag (empty). The nurse was holding the enema tip as though she was going to insert it. I remember that picture well, esp the red enema bag
