 What about the mid-80s comedy with Michael J Fox called Poison Ivy? There was a hot nurse at summer camp and one of the nerdy kids wanted to be examined by her so he faked an illness and Michael Fox took him to the infirmary but instead of the hot nurse he's met by a big old battle-ax of a woman and she holds up a stubby-bulbed rectal thermometer.

the movie "Modern Lover" 1990 with Robby Benson has a pretty decent rectal temperature scene. other has daughter on her back and inserting digital thermometer.

Correction the title of the film was "Modern Love". guess i had lover on the brain..:)
