In my home as child both my brother and I had our own glass thermometers , both rectal. mom had put our first name letter on the case with nail polish, I still have my case no idea what happened to my brothers , as to my parents i never saw a thermometer or case in there bathroom and when they had passed away and i got the house the only thermometer i found was one in the case marked with my name letter and it was rectal. I have a number of rectal thermometers i have gotten over years as well.

I have my own, and my mom has hers, which I gave her. I also have a few spares, since I bought a batch of six off of eBay.

No, she doesn't take my temperature. In fact I read her thermometer for her because she can't see the line or the markings. Mom is 81 and I am 56, and we both suffer from very low metabolism, so we are doing basal temperature monitoring.
