 Cynthia, how involved was your daughter's physical? Was she concerned about getting her shot? When was the last time she had to provide a rectal temperature? Thanks.

Can anyone tell me more about what Gardisil is?? Also why do they have to take your tempersture rectally when you are getting this shot?

Gardisil is to prevent cervical cancer, so it makes no sense -- other than economic -- to give it to boys!

Jason, you must have pulled that factoid right out of your butt (sorry, I couldn't resist). The Gardasil series is a huge moneymaker for doctors ($100 a pop) and can interfere with women's reproduction. The CDC says absolutely nothing about Gardasil being used on boys. This is just big pharma milking the population for big bux.

To answer your question, Lissa, my daughter did not have to "provide" her temperature being taken rectally. When she was sick. And the last time prior to her exam I wrote about, I remember her getting her temperature taken rectally was when our family doctor came to the house. She had the flu, and he had took her temperature. She felt so miserable, that it even surprised me that when he told her to turn over on the couch so he could lower her pajama bottoms and panties and take her temperature; she did without a whimper or protest. It was taken. The next time was for her gardisil shot (3rd).

The exam you asked about included a rectal exam, vaginal exam, and an awful lot of questions. I think that was my daughter's first experience in stirrups.

Why did the doctor have to take her tempersture rectally? Could he do it in her mouth or whatever ?

If you read and understood my post, I explained the reason her temperature was taken as it was, It was not my call, it was the doctor who decided.
