To answer your question, Lissa, my daughter did not have to "provide" her temperature being taken rectally. When she was sick. And the last time prior to her exam I wrote about, I remember her getting her temperature taken rectally was when our family doctor came to the house. She had the flu, and he had took her temperature. She felt so miserable, that it even surprised me that when he told her to turn over on the couch so he could lower her pajama bottoms and panties and take her temperature; she did without a whimper or protest. It was taken. The next time was for her gardisil shot (3rd).
The exam you asked about included a rectal exam, vaginal exam, and an awful lot of questions. I think that was my daughter's first experience in stirrups.
