 O am a PA (physicians assistant). I work I'm the pediatric ward in the hospital. The policy is anyone in this section of the hospital has their temperature recorded rectally (red probe). The age range is through age 17 so at your age, it would be the norm

I HAD A TONSILLECTOMY AT 7. DURING MY PRE-ADMIT HX&P I WAS TOLD TO LEAN OVER THE NURSES' LAP OR LAY ON THE BED FOR TEMP. THAT STARTED WHAT FELT LIKE A MONTH'S HUMILIATION & POWERLESSNESS. A CHILD HAS SEXUAL FEELINGS AT 7. I KNOW AS THIS WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE BEING AWARE OF "SOMETHING". THE EMOTIONAL SCARRING RUINED ME. I TOLERATED SEX WITH MY HUSBAND. ALL THOSE MEMORIES OF THE 7 YR OLD WERE FRONT AND CENTER IN MY MIND DURING WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A WONDERFUL PART OF LIFE. IT CAUSED MY DIVORCE. IF I HAD HAD KIDS I WOULD HAVE DIED BEFORE ALLOWING WHAT HAPPENED TO ME HAPPEN TO THEM.
SURELY WITH ALL THE ADVANCES IN NEUROSCIENCES SINCE THE 1960'S, STUDIES WOULD REVEAL THE LIFE DEVASTATING EFFECTS THIS PRACTICE WOULD CAUSE.
