 When I was a boy the doctor would take give me shots in the backside while over his knee. My Dad would take us boys temperatures in the rectum while he held us over his lap. he was a strong guy and was very firm. He told our doctor he took our temps "down there" and the dr. said it was the right way to do it.

i am sixty two years of age and i can remember going to the doctor for a camp physical and tne physical was preformed by the doctors nurse and she took my temperature rectally which i did not mind at all. i still take my temperature rectally and i do resort to inserting a glycerin suppository up my rectum from time to time.
