 When I got sick my mom would make the appointment and I would be glad because it meant a rectal temp was going to be taken. One time at age 6 we went in and i fully expected to get a rectal temp but instead I was given the choice of mouth or bottom. I said bottom and so then my mom interupted and said "lets try moth this time". So the nurse brought in thi thermomter with a sharp tip. And i hated it. Maybe if I had spit it out i could have gone back to rectal. Rectal felt a lot better then the sharp oral thermometer. I just wish that the only way to take any temp is rectally. Life would be even better and maybe the rectal thermometer would not be villified.
