I took my rectal temperature two or three times yesterday with a digital thermometer. Reading was 99.4F. I then re-took it with a glass mercury rectal thermometer. 100.2F. I repeated these readings a few hours later. Pretty much the same results. Digital was up to 99.7F while the rectal glass mercury thermometer registered 100.2F. Give me the glass mercury rectal thermometer over the rest.

Time of day, weather conditions, etc., can have an effect. If you have a fever, what's the difference between a fraction of a degree anyway ? You're still going to treat it with the same aspirin, or antibiotics.
