 It was always taken by my mom, and ended around age 5. I knew other kids that had it taken rectally through high school, but I think that wasn't very many.

RT's were always taken by Mom. I grew up in a house with two older brothers. If one of us were sick, Mom would check all our temps. at the same time - the old-fashioned way. No privacy. We all witnessed the procedure.
