Usually, my Mom took my temperature when I was sick. But I remember a time when my Dad took it, in my bottom. I was 11 years old, and my Mom was in Florida visiting my aunt. I was sick with the flu, so Dad did the honors. I thought it was pretty cool to have him take my rectal temp a few times per day, but naturally I kept that thought to myself. It was taken by females (usually Mom) until I was 10 or 11 - then I was taught to take it myself. About 8, Mom told my if I wanted I could change to armpit - but as Mom.
