My son jayden has recently been diagnosed with some condition that his body temperature does not register well from an oral reading. The doctor said, that to check his temperature rectally evryday about twice , because with this condition if his temp gets too high or low , it oculd be a sign that he is getting sick. I don't remember the name of the condition, all I know is that it has to do with the brain and the temperature not being accurate oral, underarm , or eve in the ear. He is 14 and seems to be ok with it, but I know there will come a day when he will get sick of the rectal method . What shoud I do? Tell him that he may need this done for a while and just make it as comfy as best as I can for him?

i understand your sons condishion I was born with 2 hart condishions articsteenosis ( how ever it is speeled ) and noonin syndrom i also was born with a bad gag refles SO i understand your sons point of view.
i am 37 now and still do my temops the same way as a kid YES it is most true reading and also allows the one getting the tempp to have a conversation.
infact my dr said that many of his patients with condishions and like your sons it is the best .
i get it oraly in the dr office and i am glad do not want to be looked at as some nut case in the office .
and yes other condishons like myne asthema and so on PLUS i am in texas were we have in out area RECORD setting het 80 or more days of 100 PLUS temps and 40 or so of 105 .
my dr one day had to go due to a mom and her 3 kids all having a case of heat stroke all i heard later got rectal temps the nkids ages under 15 put up a fight u could here them balling NO NOT THAT WAY F THAT I AM X YEAR OLD the mom i gues or who ever said it was a mus and i guess it whent ok
