 Hi Friends,
Do you remember your first rectal temperature?.I don't remember rectal temps as a baby,but at around age 4,I was home sick with a fever.Mom came in and sat down on my bed.She said that she was "Going to take my temperature".I had seen my parents have their's taken orally and so I knew what a thermometer was.Mom explained that she needed to "put it in my rear end." and that it would not hurt,but might feel a little strange.I was told that I had to "lay still or the thermometer could break in my bottom.Mom rolled me over on my tummy and bared my bottom.The air felt very cold as I was feverish.I felt her fingers on my buttocks and then felt them being parted.Moments later the cold and greasy rectal thermometer was slid up my rectum.The sensation,that first time,was wonderful.Mom adjusted the thermometer several times as she waited for the thrmometer to register.Minutes later,she slowly pulled it out of my bottom,wiped it with a tissue and read my temperature.That "first time" was enought to get me to love having my temperature taken rectally.

yes and no i do not remember any as a baby same as most here i do recall the 1st i can ever recall.

short info i was born 2/27/74 in texas and was born with a hart defect i was russhed 3 hr away to.

Childrens Medical Center Dallas Texas were i spent the next 7 weeks YES 7 weeks.

the sergery was unable to correct the defect and i was said and sent home to die .


i beet the oods despite the words of all the doctors.

as i spent the next 7 or so weeks recovering the time spent started a life long love of YES the temps/suppositories watching fraight trains/big rigs/airplanes/hellacopters and all sots of autos.

1st temp i can recall i can recall it as if it happend last week .

i was in my corner room watching alll the above going round and then someone in white walked in the room.

the person may have been a dr/nurse/assistant/orderly or what ever .

i remember being rolled on my tummy then the cool air on my botom as my undies were slid down and the gown opend up.

then somting COLD/SLIMMY and funky being pushed in THAT of corse was the old old rectal glass thermometer.

the person talked with my mom MAY SHE REST IN PEACE.

she died 5 years ago this last augest of coloncanser .

i remember feeling the person placing ther warm hand on my bottom to hold the thermometer in place after the time was up the strange feel of the thermometer being slowly removed then.

my momj and this other person said somting and THEN the feel of somthing MUCH bigger being pushed in me THAT was a PHENAGREN suppository .

after it was slid in place and was in ther for good the feel of my undies being pulled up and my gown being closed and me being rolled back to my back soon after i feel asleep

No, I was too young to remember my first rectal temp, I do remember subsequent those when I reached about 6 or 7. Very few people can remember events that happened to them before the age of 4 or 5 and even those memories are cloudy and only bits and pieces of what actually happened can be remembered.
I had read on the net that there are some people that can remember when they were born!! Hard to believe, but these people can describe exactly what happened. To me sounds like a crock of sh*t.

After all these years, there is one other detail that I remember from the last time I had an r/t at the doctor's. As I lay on the examining table, savoring the sensation of the thermometer as it registered, the Torreador March from Bizet's opera Carmen was heard over the loudspeakers they had in that office. Although I've never played it while taking my own r/t, I think about it from time to time.

As with others, my first RT was in infancy and not remembered. But the first remembered was at 4, along with my first exxperience with the enema can. The two devices usually went together, as any fever in those days called for a cleansing.

I to recall but vaguely a hospital stay at age 4 i recall having my RT taken over the hospital stay and also getting suppository. mom took my RT till i was age 13 and so did my doctor, be he would do RT after 13 if it was asked for. this would have been 1962 for hospital visit and i was 13 in 71

It would be impossible to remember the first, like others have stated. Growing up in the rectal temp era, going to the doctor's office always included a thermometer in your butt. So it was just expected procedure, and nothing out of the ordinary, so one wouldn't remember any specific details unless something unusual happened. At home it was the same, and my mom switched me to oral at a much earlier age, so there was nothing memorable about it during the years I got it at home (until about age 7 or 8).

I remember the incident of being left alone in the exam room with a thermometer probe in my butt at age 5. I remember this because it was very scary to be left alone at that age, and especially with something in your butt. It was a digital wall mounted thermometer, state of the art for then, and the only one I ever remember being used on me (and I had RTs at the doctor to age 12). I remember being walked in on one time by a family, and one time by the doctor, and the last years being frustrated at still having my temp taken rectally. I have posted most of these experiences here.

I remember the first time I had a rectal thermometer stuck up me - when I was 5 or 6. Mum repeated the trick of "I'm not going to put something in you, I just want to check your bottomhole and see if it's bleeding". I resisted until she threatened to spank me, and sure enough when I bent over for her, she pushed something up me, and it hurt - making me cry. It was only when she pulled it out that I realised it was a thermometer coated in liquid soap solution - her latest way of trying to impel me to do a shit "on time".

the first rt that i recall was when i was about 4 at the doctors office. i remember that i was lying on my back and the nurse came over and grabed my ankles and put me in the diaper change postion and pulled the back of my panties up just past my butt and inseted the thermometer in, i remember then the nurse had to leave for some reason so she asked mom to come over and hold me up for a few mins, (that was not normal cause when they did it at later vists the nurse was there the whole time). I just remember mom talking to me while she was doing it. this was back in the 70's and i remember the diaper change pos was used until i was 5 maybe 6 and on your stomache unitl 10. I remember alot of rt cause i had some respority issues and (mom verifed) was at the dr's office at least ever 2-3 weeks (dr's orders to keep check of me) until i was about 6.

I don't think any of us can remember our first rectal temperature, which probably occured on the day that we were born. Remembering your last rectal temp. should be no problem...for most of us.

I think most of us remember our last rectal temp TIL NOW. But few of us will have time to remember our really last rectal temp - my greandmother e.g. got it in hospital shortly before she died.

I'm sure I had a few rt's before, but the first one that I remember was when I was around 4 years old. I was told to lie on my bed. Mom sat on the edge of the bed, and pulled my pajama bottoms down. Then she stuck the thermometer in my bottom. While it was in, she read me a story from one of those Little Golden Books. She held the thermometer in place, except when she turned a page in the book. That was when I started liking rectal temps. From that time on, I always looked forward to the next one.

My earliest memory of having my temperature taking was my mom taking me into her room laying me on my back on her bed pulling my pants down and underwear down then putting my into the diaper change position as if I was still a baby wearing a diaper and putting a glass thermometer in my butt for what seemed like a eternity. This was when I was 3 and it was done this way until about half way done with kindergarten. I got sick a lot when I was younger so I had to undergo this a few times a month in my youth.

I remember I was home sick with a mild cold when I was 10.

I was in the bathroom about to get into the bathtub for a bath when I heard mom calling me to get into her bedroom.

I walked in with a towel around myself. She was shaking a thermometer and told me she needede to check my temperature. I opened my mouth and mom said the other way.
Of course pleading didn't do any good. I had to take off the towel and lay it on the bed. Then I had to lay on my stomach where she preceeded to insert the thermometer

I thought it'll hurt since mom had given me many bulb enemas over the years. But it felt cool.

I laid there for a few minutes until she took it out and then I went for my bath.

That's me.....Rectal Temp Cheerleader! "Bottoms up" is my favorite, because my favorite temperature position is on my tummy....with my bottom up. OK....I won't use it to sign off with this time. You have so most deservedly earned your title for all your enthusiastic posts. Like so many of us rectal temp fans, we would be honored and priviledged to lower your panties and spread your lovely butt cheeks only to insert a well-lubricated glass thermometer into your lovely pucker hole. I couldn't have been more than 2 or 3, but I can still remember laying on my mom's bed with my legs raised. I was looking at a TV on the dresser and suddenly felt something cold and uncomfortable up my butt, no doubt a rectal thermometer. I didn't even whimper, but I was glad when she took it out and the discomfort went away.

I remember my first rectal temp. I was 11. I remember because I took it myself. I can not recall any experiences before that though. I was going to my friends house. I walked in the door and on the sofa was his 5 year old brother with his mother getting his rectal temperatue taken. I stared for a moment and walked on through. I dunno why but it struck a cord with me. I became interested in the hole thing from there on. For the next few weeks a thought about what it would be like to have a thermometer in my bum. I thought next time I visited my doctor I would ask for a rectal temperature or next time im sick i'd ask my mother for it. However I knew I Wasn't going to attempt either. I pondered for awhile about what to do. I eventually decided to try it myself. I remember the day prefectly. I came home from school took the thermometer. It was a big white digital one. I went upstairs to my room. pulled my pants down and turned on the thermometer. I knew nothing about postioning or lube at that time. I was standing up and I worked the thermometer in between my buttocks and into my rectum. It wasn't uncomfortable nor was it nice. I suppose the fact I was standing and had no lube played a big role. However having it my bum was a thrill in itself. After I thought it might be better in a different postion. so I got on to my back, legs in the air exposing my bumhole.I reset the thermometer and went to insert it. I dunno what happened next but it was amazing. Once the tiny silver tip past my anus it was like my bumhole just opened up and a good 2 inches of the thermometr just slid it. Immediatly I felt this great sensation in my rectum, my pelvic area and legs. The thermometer shot out of my rectum onto the bed. I later found out that was my first orgasm . I remember my first RT when I was about 4 years old around 1978. I was in the bathroom with my mom. I was completely naked. She took a towel and put it across her lap while she was sitting on the toilet with the lid down. Then she put me over her lap like she was going to spank me. She didn't seem mad at me so I didn't resist too much but I did ask: "Are you spanking me, Mom?" She said "No" Then I asked "What are you doing?" She said: "I'm going to take your temperature." She slid the thermometer in and I really liked it. I said "That feels good." Mom seemed a little embarrassed and just muttered "yup." I was over her lap for about 3 minutes, then she took the thermometer out, and let me down.

The second time I was at the Doctor's office when I was about 6 years old. The female medical assistant came in. She was very business like. W/o telling me what she was doing she told me to lie on my stomach. I was afraid that I was getting a shot (which I hated at that age.) She pulled my underwear down, spread my bottom and stuck the thermometer in. It felt pretty good. I remember really enjoying it. The medical assistant then left the room with me lying on my stomach for about 5 minutes. When she came back she took the thermometer out and did a couple other procedures before the Doctor came in the room. Those are the two experiences I remember. They are also 100% true with no exaggerations or distortions. I hope you enjoyed.

I don't honestly believe anybody could remember their very first rectal temperature because it was most likely taken in the hospital as a newborn. Most of us here making a post would probably remember a rectal temperature taken by our mom's or a nurse no earlier than the age of 1 or 2 years old and even that may be quite young to remember. Over the age of 2 is more plausible...3 for sure.

I remember my first temp like it was yesterday. I was 6 and came home from school feeling feverish and out of it. My mom sat me on the toilet and proceeded to take my oral temp. I wasn't concentrating on the thermometer and it slipped out and broke on the floor. My mom came in and said looks like we are going to have to take your temperature in your hiney. At that time I freaked thinking it would hurt like a shot and ran to my bedroom and hid under the bed. She came into my room and said to get up from under the bed. I said no and she said if you don't come up from there I will spank you. I reluctantly came up and she asked me to pull down my PJ's and roll over on my tummy. I watched her very closely, I remember her holding a strange thermometer with a pearshaped tip. On it was a large gob of vaseline, so thick it had a peak on top of it. I had never seen anything like that. I said to her that my butt would spit it out and she proclamed that she would just put it back in. Then she proceeded to part my cheeks and that is when all the fun started. I felt the cold tip of the thermometer hit my anus, which made me tighten up, then proceed to go inside of me. It felt like a large rod being pushed into me. It was icy cold, very irritating (in a good way) with the stiff vaseline on it and felt every line of that thermometer as it dove deep into my butt, I guess it felt like 2-3 inches since it seemed never ending. I had shivers going all the way up my spine. she then said call me when I don't feel it any more that was about 3-5 minutes. She then proceeded to take it out. After the 2-3rd time I was hooked on the heiny variety thermometer with the pear shaped tip.

The first rectal temperature was taken when i was in the hospital for tonsils. I was about eleven or twelve. At a certain time the nurse came around to take temps kids my age it was done orally. Just prior to this, I had a family visit.We all had some ice cream. The nurse noticed the empty containers and left overs. I gusess she thought a rectal temp would be more accurate.She helped me slide down my pajama bottoms and underpants down. She then cupped my buttocks in her hand and spread my cheeks. I could feel my anus just open a little and then in a smoothe motion slid in the thermometer.It was kept in forthe time she took my pulse. She then slid out the themomemter in one smooth motion. The feeling was fantastic. I gave an embarrassed smile and she smiled back. Maybe she enjoyed the the experience as much as me

I thank my grandparents (might sound silly) for being old fashioned. Usually had my rt taken by my grandma when I was young. For this thread I will relate my first rt and only given to me a the doctors office. I was 9 (this was in the mid 90s) I think and had been sick for a good while with a really bad cough and an on and off again fever. Anyway I remember specifically the nurse explaining to my mother what she was going to do. I was completely embarrassed to hear that I had to get my temp taken "the old fashioned way" as the nurse put it. My mother asked me if I wanted her to leave and I agreed to that. I just remembered being so embarrassed when the nurse instructed me to turn and lie on my belly. I became quite modest at an early age and feeling the nurse tug down my shorts and undies was mortifying. Simply felt her part my cheeks and stick in the cold thermometer. Never looked back to see the thermometer that was used, but it felt the same as the one my grandma used. Will always remember that day.

well first one I rememeber led me here. Am sure I had one as a child but I don't remember any. What I do remember is a few months ago - came home from work to my girlfriend's house and I wasn't feeling well. Chills and a headache. I lay down and woke up to feeling a cool hand on my forehead. She'd returned home from work. She whispered that she was going to take my temperature. I closed my eyes. Her footsteps approached the bed and she set a hand on my hip as I was on my side. "You're fine" she whispered. Recall her pushing my udnerwear to the side and slipping the thermometer in. I don't recall too much as I really didn't feel well - but I knew it didn't feel bad. A few days later - she caught the flu from me and asked me to take hers. Rectal is apparently a habit of hers and she talked me through it.
