I couldn't have been more than 2 or 3, but I can still remember laying on my mom's bed with my legs raised. I was looking at a TV on the dresser and suddenly felt something cold and uncomfortable up my butt, no doubt a rectal thermometer. I didn't even whimper, but I was glad when she took it out and the discomfort went away.

I remember my first rectal temp. I was 11. I remember because I took it myself. I can not recall any experiences before that though. I was going to my friends house. I walked in the door and on the sofa was his 5 year old brother with his mother getting his rectal temperatue taken. I stared for a moment and walked on through. I dunno why but it struck a cord with me. I became interested in the hole thing from there on. For the next few weeks a thought about what it would be like to have a thermometer in my bum.
