I was in college during the 70's, and couldn't find rectal thermometers with large, pear-shaped bulbs even then. That type of thermometer was probably discontinued during the late 60's. The newer "replacements" were worthless. Apparently automation and mass production took over.

I was just curious really, I mean the one that was used on me was much smaller/thinner than the old fashioned kind. If I could feel that like crazy going into me when I was young I can only imagine what the bigger one felt like. They look so thick in some of the pics I've seen, wasn't sure why they were made so big. Seems like a lot of folks have fond memories of them so that is cool at least.

well matt would have loved to have the keepsake but was never done
by 10 it was obsconded and I could not find it, you are a lucky guy, went to grand parents at 18 and what did I find but a classic bd in the cabinet
bought one 10 years ago like it
think mine was a taylor bionic or bd 150
just remember the double grooves under the vaseline
