Your experience almost makes me wish I'd been hospitalized at that age! The thought of having my temperature taken rectally every few hours for several days would have been enough for me to be the first one ready at temp time, every time!
I've been hospitalized exactly twice in my life. The first time was for eight days when I came down with Asiatic flu at the age of 2 1/2. Although I have no doubt that my temperature was in fact taken rectally, I have no recollection of that. The other time was when I had my wisdom teeth surgically removed at the age of 19. No rectal temps then, althogh I was given a thermometer to use which was marked as an oral, but had a blunt bulb. I was allowed to keep it when I was released and I still have it.

I think I would have felt the same way Tina did if I'd had the same experience in that I would have missed having a thermometer in my rectum as well.
