My husband always takes my temperature over his knee, unless I'm sick in bed, or, years ago, when a morning basal temp was taken in bed. Then, i was gently rolled over onto my tummy, pj pants pulled down, and thermometer inserted and held in place for 5 minutes. By the way, I take his temp the same way- over my knee. Want to see a grown man turn scarlet- just get our old mercury rectal thermometer, the vaseline, and sit down and pat my lap!!!
