 When I get sick and my wife takes my rectal temperature, she usually has me lay on my left side and draw my knees up. She inserts the thermometer half way and holds it in the whole time. The nice thing is the the bulb of the thermometer always glides against my prostate as it's going in and the way she holds it puts pressure there and drives me crazy. I don't know if she knows it feels good to me or not, but I never refuse a rectal temperature from her.
