They will likely suggest using your armpit or ear, and you can argue about accuracy at that point. My mother would have used a simple fix for that and given me nose drops first, but you can deal with your congestion in your own way. Why, Mandy, do you write without capitalization or adequate punctuation? What is your age and education level? Based on the words you use, you should be able to write a proper sentence. You could ask the nurse to do it, but she would refuse because clinic policies will not allow it. Second, you could ask your Mom. But if she has already been taking your temp orally, its doubtful if she will agree to take it rectally, regardless of the accuracy issue. In any case, all you can do is ask, and you might get lucky. But chances are you will be turned down. Unfortunately, rectal temps are taboo with most people today, and you will not easily find someone to take yours, regardless of how badly you want it.
