I was studying at the University of Salamanca, but this was over 20 years ago. The hospital was absolutely filthy, and disgusting. The equipment was antiquated. I saw gurneys with old and rusted iron wheels, and the medical staff didn't appear to understand what they were doing. And, I'm 100% certain that what I saw was an old American style rectal thermometer that was placed in the center of a large Vaseline jar, covered in petroleum jelly, in the exam room.I would hope that things have improved since that time. I was very surprised, considering that the hospital was a part of the university's medical school.
