If you read my post, about 1/3 way down I wrote that I helped her turn on her side to listen to her back and take her rectal temp. This happened in the early 90's so yes, I did wear gloves when performing any intimate care, according to standards set by the CDC and most hospitals. This would also have been the case had it occurred even 7-8 years prior. YEs, it was my routine to take rectal temps whenever I judged it to be sound and safe nursing judgment.

This story was very enjoyable to read. I would like to read more stories by male nurses and their rectal temperature experiences.
