After age 5, the only rectal temp. that I ever got was from a girlfriend,during my early 20's, who used vaseline and an old-fashioned glass thermometer. She had her temp. taken that way through her entire life, so it wasn't a novelty for her. Now I convince my wife to do it on occasion, but it's not as exciting.

Richard......the Geratherm thermometers are relatively new because Galisthan alloy hasn't been around long. I like the concept of the Geratherm thermometers, but the design of thermometer that's out now is too flimsy and has an awkward shape. The Germans need to design a more traditional shaped Geratherm rectal thermometer like we were used to seeing growing up.
