I can come up with 2 possible reasons: 1) The original version from 1971 clocked in at 8:34 while Madonna's version is about half that. & 2) The AT40 staffers didn't want to offend any CHR-Pop station that airs AT40 to have the original version played so they "substituted" if you will the Madonna version on both counts(time constraints & format imcompatibility).
