Subject: Rosemary Clooney--and she DID make AT40!

Dear AT40 (and music) fans:
Seeing the movie "White Christmas" won't be the same anymore. That 1954 movie co-starred Bing Crosby and the singer who died Saturday, Rosemary Clooney.

Rosemary Clooney was one of the most popular singers of the early to mid-1950's. Her 1951 #1 hit, "Come On-A My House," was twice played on "American Top 40" as an extra (on the 7/31/71 and 2/3/73 shows). Plus, to the very best of my knowledge, Clooney's fall of 1954 two-sided single, "Hey there/ This Ole House" marked the last time both sides of a single made it to #1 on the pop chart independently...and where one side ("House") replaced the other at #1.

For a while, Rosemary Clooney was married to actor Jose Ferrer, and their son, Gabriel, married Debby Boone of "You Light Up My Life" fame. Actor George Clooney is the son of Rosemary's brother, Nick.
