It looks reasonable that Casey listens to the intros and outros of songs to adapt his delivery according to the type of music, tempo, etc. but I wonder how does he. In Rob's book I think it's Matt Wilson, or another sound engineer, that says Casey hated using earphones. Must be kind of complicated to let him listen to the music and just record his voice without using earphones.

Maybe somebody who's seen some AT40 tracking session could explain us how the whole thing goes and how things have change from the 80's to today
