Scott, the small speaker angled to avoid feedback for sure explains how Casey's voice trackings can be done, technically, but let me add something to this topic.

Ever since I heard AT40 for the first time what's always really amazed me is how Casey's words, pauses, intonation, etc., fit in with the musical intros & outros of the songs so perfectly, how heartfelt his delivery is.

Sometimes it looks like if the music had been purpousedly composed for him to speak over it. I'm talking about those magic moments like in last weekend's flashback when he introduced Andy Gibb's "Desire" or Dan Fogelberg's "Longer"... what can I say, it just thrills me.

And that's why I think Casey Kasem is and always will be the best, BUT if he is able to do that without any preparation (previously listening to the songs, reading the lyrics, watching pictures of the singers, whatever else...), if he just gets in the studio and reads the script while listening to the song through a small speaker, then he's not only the best, he must have some kind of supernatural powers that the rest of mortals donīt have!

Anyway, that's been HIS gift and OUR pleasure for 32 years now, and much, much more which I'm sure is still to come.
