Subject: I need help bad

I need to buy something real bad. I need to sell something to do it.
I have left from when I had a Muzzleloader shop some things someone may be interested in.
I have a precarved stock made from a master I made. The stock is 98% inletted and the same type stock I used to make squirrel rifles from to sell. The design is a rendition of an Ohio Rifle. I put a pic of one I have down there in my post about fixing the Belgian. I think it was called"just about done".
Anyway the stock is inletted for the partsd and I have most all the major parts to assemble a rifle. The stock is inletted for a 7/8's cross the flats barrel. I shold have a Green Mountain barrel and breech plug with the tang.
I have the lock the stock is inletted for. The best of the best L&R DursEgg lock. Percussion but a flint will go too. Fast lock and well made. The stock is inletted for the Davis long bar trigger in double set mode. The butt of the stock accepts a deeply curved cresant butt plate sold a Track of the Wolf. I may or may not have one. I can as a way to sell the stuff dovetail the barrel for the under lugs and the sights and supply them.I could also install the rib under the barrel since the stock is a half stock design and uses a rib to install the thimbles for the ramrod. I can supply the thimbles.
Anyway the set up is like the assembly of parts Track of the Wolf sells to build rifles. The precarved and inletted staock and all or most all the parts. I can sell for a fraction of what the parts would cost at Track of the Wolf and be supplying the best parts on the market.
I'd probably sell all the assembled parts and the stock for $385 plus the shipping.
I guess if I can't sell I won't get the object I want and I'll just make a rifle someday. ha ha ha

I know, it's a crappy craftsman that blames his tools, but this camera SUCKS!! On the other hand, Dave, AKA,(DJPLeathersmith), made this outstanding holser for my 62' Pocket Police. I had him make it left handed so I could wear it around back and draw with my right hand. Excellent fit and darn purdy to look at too!!! Screw Obama's global policy, BUY AMERICAN!!!

Came yesterday afternoon and I spent about 6 hours cleaning and spiffining it up. Wouldn't trade it for either of the brand new Ubertis I returned to Dixie Gun Works and Texas Jacks (Cimarron). I think both of the Ubertis I bought had been previously returned, especially the DGW gun.

It's cold and raining so I won't be going to the range, but the Dragoon is ready. It has a stop bolt that is wider than the cylinder stop lead-in cuts, so I should do something about that.

Photos on the next page.

PS: I sold 2 of my old guns on Gun Broker, so I bought an old Uberti Dragoon that needs the cylinder reblued, ha, ha. Gotta stay broke ya know, ha, ha. Winter projects, boys.

I got a little creative today, and decided to make a rammer for my 62 Police Trapper. (this is the short barreled one w/o the load lever)
I had to give my bro- a ride to Home Depot, so before I went I went and did some meaureing on the rammer hole on my Colt.
I picked up a 3/8 ash wooden dowel at HD. cost $1.09 for a good lenth.
When i brought my bro- back home we found a couple brass knobs for kitchen cabinets that he had left over, so I decided to make a ball rammer tool.
New Colt Trappers come w/ a brass load tool, but I never got one w/ mine (used).
pics tell the story, but i drilled holes in the ends of the dowel and used the bolts that came w/ the knobs. I put glue on everything also.
i countersunk the hole on one of the knob shafts then cut off and used for the ball jag end.
it come out good, 5 inches long overall.

Hey ... after I pick up my new Euroarms Remington I would like to do whatever I can to reduce scoring of the cylinder, and deformation of the notches, from cocking. Should I polish the edges of the bolt with emery paper? If so, what grit? 600? Is there anything else I can do? Thanks!

Well, I had never owned or handled remington NMA's before. And mine that I bought arrived today and I am in love. I have always been a Colt man. I love my Walkers with a passion. Thought I really liked my Colt 1861 Navy but this NMA has kicked it to the curb I believe. Excellant trigger and I love the sight picture. The ergonomics on the revovler fit me perfect......... much more so than the navy ;) I like 'em a bit heavier than the navy. Might just have to sell the navy and get another remmy so I have a brace of 'em :) (LOL)

Was handlin' the Colt today and although I do like a lite trigger I had to tear in and check this one out. The sear at the top of the trigger was worn back jus' from use ... I got the feelin' this Rev worked real well too cause somebody enjoyed cyclin' this one. The C&B Cyl is lnew nipples never touchedand it don't hurt dry firing that kirst...since 1998[BL]. So as I jus' took that Pietta trigger I straightened some for comfort on My Colt Centaure off and put the original back on.
So now I got a new and straightened trigger on my left handed '61 Navy Officer's Model Conversion ...
That straight trigger works alot better for me on the Colts. They all have right hand triggers that's another reason I prefer the Remington and R&S...
Wayne you might try a one a them modified triggers for the Pietta' s like you use on the Centaures.
If you could give me some numbers and a screw specs for a Pietta wedge screw. I need to get a longer one to use as a wedge stop screw for setting the cylinder gap to the forcing cone ion the Kirst.
Works better on my left hand trigger finger...
I now have a nice crisp but smooth trigger pull, and a new trigger in it.
Fuzzy the hand can use some smoothin' and polishin' but fits good but will replace when I order sumfin else...
Good lil gun I really like it Fuzzy.

Subject: Cap Problem Fixed

Author:

Date Posted: 12:11:41 11/16/09 Mon

Spent part of the weekend problem solving, how to keep spent caps from blowing back under my 62' Police, hammer. First I tried making a cap sleeve cutter. Scissors and endcutters, collapsed the end being cut and were uncomfortable to use, so I went to using a razor blade with a jig setup.
http://www.fmtc.com/~tfl1x/CapSleeveCutter2.jpg
This made quick work of making 3/8" cap sleeves. They fit well and kept the caps from shredding when fired. Unfortunately, the caps were blown out of them and back into the hammer recess again!!
Next up, spring steel. I made a cross bar out of an old pocket watch spring and held it in place while working the hammer off the trigger....I ended up with 3 pieces of spring steel, one jammed into the nipple cutout. Removed that and thought some more. Next was to beef up the main spring. I made a long washer for under the spring and put it in place. Unfortunately I had to rework the inside of the handle to get it to fit with out pre-compresssing. Got lot's more tension, but blow-back still won....caps went directly into the hammer slot as usual, just not as far. Someone had posted a method recommended on a SASS site and that was what I decided was my easiest and most likely fix. I drilled a 3/32" hole in the receiver, back away's above the arbor, the pic will show why it had to be recessed back on the frame.
http://www.fmtc.com/~tfl1x/CapPin2.jpg
I then used some 3/32" binding wire cut down to be my post for the hole. I opened a slot in the top of the hammer, but didn't go all the way to the face with it, to prevent more gas leaking. In the original SASS instructions they said to use a drill steel for the pin, but I need the flex of mild steel because I lowered the hammer carefully and bent the pin forward so it would be closer to the nipple.
http://www.fmtc.com/~tfl1x/CapPin.jpg
After checking it's position, I peined a retaining divot with a punch to keep her tight. EUREKA!!! 2 full cylinders(20g fff + wad and .357rb), and 15 dry fire caps only later, I can say with confidence...my cap's in the action day's are OVER!!

I fixed another Centaure for a guy from FROCS. It had the canted up arbor that had to be loose to get the barrel on. Banged up recoil shield and barrel slots and arbor slot.Wedge in the shape of a "U". Well almost. ha ha
No forcing cone at all. Muzzle out of concentric with the bore. Mainspring too stiff.
Well it was like a junky gun abused from years of shooting it while it was loose. Now it's gone from practically useless to nice and tight and fit well and ready to be shot for a good long while. It's a nice tight well fitted gun now.
The chambers align well with the bore. The trigger ain't bad. the action is plenty good enough. The action was dirty and caps stuck inside.
I cleaned up the slots and bottomed the arbor and mated the barrel lug to the frame after the barrel set back to properly fit the cylinder gap that was over .040 inch. The cylinder gap is now .007 inch. The wedge is in "TIGHT". It shouldn't have much "seat-in" when the gun is shot. I was able to do some "seat-in" with the wedge installation since I used a longer worked down "Walker" wedge for a replacement. I did that in lieu of the proverbial welding of the fron of the arbor slot. If a wide wedge is made it does away with the need for the weld. The new wedge is thicker than standard so it should hold up real well.
The arbor was set straight and bottomed in the barrels arbor hole. Since the arbor threads were kinda worn from it being loose I had the arbor welded to the frame from the rear in the hammer channel. That was a good amount of filing to remover the extra weld bumps. The arbor won't come loose again I bet. I straightened the hammers channel when I was cleaning and shaping after the welding.
The proerbial forcing cone and muzzle crown were reamed in after the other stuff was done.
It all came out well. All I have to do now is remove the stuck nipples and check the fit of the caps. The caps may drag on the recoil shiels ring(what's left of it. I had to level the recoil shield since there were six low spots and six high spots from the ctylinder banging the hell out of it since the original cylinder gap was so wide.
The hammer was ground off on the left from the factory to keep it from hanging up on the crooked hammer channel. The channel is straight now but the hammer is a little lopsided. It'll work though and it's full and half cock notches are prime as is the cam. That's good. I'll try to show a pic with the new "Magnum" wedge in view.

I saw a very interesting documentry on Jesse James last night.
These researchers spent years in the central states investigating the once visited sites of jessie & his gang.
They found a bunch of rocks w/ carvings in them near the James's property. Maps w/ code markings.
Back then in the 1800's, they would burry mason jars of money for hiding and/or for others to find later on.
Well these researchers brough all kinds of radar detecting equip, and found something burried not too far from the carved out rocks.
they only dug a foot down and found silver dollars and gold dollars along w/ a mason jar lid and broken glass jar.
dated coins 1880,
Also, His body was moved from the gravesites a couple times, and they found it hard to do DNA. many claim he faked his death.

I'm lost here and so reposted this (stole the thread), so everyone could weigh in. The shield, is it spring steel? Is it attached to the recoil shield or free floating. Is the part that contacts the nipple, cut out on both sides to allow it to move back and forth? Finally, where can I see a pic of the unit, it doesn't come up in the patent description (thanks for postin' that Dave). I read the post about the "post" you could insert to prevent the spent cap from blowing back, but there isn't enough material on the frame above the arbor on a Pocket Police to make this modification so I want to make on of these puppies.

When "they" (whoever they are) make a kit gun, do they purposely cut everything uneven and out of alignment or do they just toss rejects into a box and call it a kit?
Actually, it's interesting trying to get everything to fit. Not a bad project.

Wanted: volunteer to test fire a Davey-Put-Together Kit Rifle. The right candidate must be willing to sign all his moola and belongings over to Dave before firing. High pain tolerance and maybe a death wish helpful.
