Got the possibles today by Well's Fargo.
Now I'm dressed up and no place to go.
Got my Pietta 61 Navy w/ .38 Colt Kirst Gated Cylinder.
It's a 6-shot. I thought it was gonna be a 5-shot?
Heck! Doesn't anyone clean their firearms before they sell'em. Couldn't even turn the cylinder on this one.
So i cleaned it today.
Will report about it later.

So, I am getting into gunfight re-enacting so to say. I am prob. going to be using one of my 1860 colts, problem is that this type of thing might be hard on it. I mean, I'll only be shooting blanks but it might hit the ground with me ya know what i mean? I was wondering how well the color case hardening etc. will hold up under harsh conditions. Also...should i just start saving and get a Pietta copy of Griswold and Gunnison to beat around with?

Hey Guys,Looking for a Christmas present to myself. Saw a Colt 2nd gen Dragoon never fired in the box. on an auction. What is the price range on these. I always wanted one so I might as well get one. I dont think they will ever get any cheaper. Is this the most collectible without buying an original. Thanks for any advice

Anyone have a Big Snake as a Pet?
Don't feed it in my bathroom... what a F'n day or at leaSt the way the evenin' started.
Must be the Full Moon!
All I did was go to mail Fuzzy his Gunslinger Vest and Diamond Stud Tie. Then to the Pet Store to get a rat for Red and Cockateil's food for the Birds.
Brought the meals home put red in a cardboard box to feed the Rat in ... and folded the lid closed left it in my 1/2 a bathroom ... for hours(ooops)
Red had crawled out up into a opening in the bottom of the sinks's cabinet... got to grab his tail for about 3 seconds as he HAULED ASS UP THE CABINET ... a space about 24" deep, 3 1/2" wide, 36" tall.
I got out the hammer and crowbar , pliers and wrench and went into demo mode.
Anyway after alot of teeth and hissssin' I backed him out and grabed him on the floor.
You can't make a snake move unless you shoot close to um ... I can't shoot in the house I'm in the City and would be arrested.
That was my surprize for today. Do I look happy? HeeHee!

Looking for a bit of information about what this gun is worth. I traded it years ago and it has been sitting on a shelf ever since.

Mid 1960's Armi San Marco
"Colt" 1848 Baby Dragoon, .31 cal bp, 5 shot, 6" barrel non-loading lever. Case hardened color with nice blueing to the barrel and cylinder. Gun is a 9/10 with some minor knicks in the wood grips. It also is complete with the original wood presentation box, powder flask, nipple wrench, and bullet mould. The wood box and velvet liner are in fair condition with signs of ware but still presentable.

Any information about value or how common this gun is would be apperciated. y e-mail is oxide80@yahoo.com Thanks

I finally got to make some time to try out the mystery 62' I bought from SG. Between us we can't figger out if it's, new, old, or part both?! Anyway, it's been on the end table by my recliner since I bought it and I'm gettin' real good at twistin' it around my ring fingers, both hands and both directions, only spun it off my finger and onto my ball's maybe 3 times....what a comfortable little gun to spin, terrible at the "drop test" LOL. Took it out today and shot at both 10 and 20yds, dymanite litte "point and shooter"! Didn't group worth a poop (approx 8in overall in 15 shots), but every shot was within a chest sized target, with one even plumb center!! A little practice and I could get pretty good with this puppy!! It's my new "barn gun". Goes with me to the barn in the mornings and evenings and fits real well in the small of my back under my belt. Thanks again SG, it's a keeper!!

I received a beautiful Cimarron Dragoon late today that would cost you $423.35 including shipping from Texas Jacks. I will sell it to you for $340 + $15 shipping and handling. If I try to return it to Texas Jacks for a refund, it will cost me return shipping, a $50 restocking fee, and the $14.95 original shipping to me.

The gun has the following:
1 - The box is ragged/shabby at one corner, and doesn't even say Cimarron on the box top artwork anymore. It just has a Cimarron sticker on the side.
2 - The gun has a fine finish except for some handling marks on the brass back strap. The 3 frame screws have a beautiful high-polish blue.
3 - The hammer face has a dry-fire type circular imprint, although the nipples don't show any damage and look like new.
4 - When I received it, the gun wouldn't cock, because the barrel was pressed against the cylinder face. The wedge however came out easily. When I pushed the wedge in again not as far, the cylinder was freed up so that the gun could be cocked.
5 - The action is clunky and similar to the Dixie Gun Works Dragoon I wrote about before, but this one is a little better.
6 - The barrel on this one is a little loose - DGW barrel was very tight - this one is loose enough that it came right off easily.
7 - And yes, this gun has the SAME CUTAWAY CAM on the hammer.

Here's what the DGW Uberti hammer looked like if you forgot my prior post. This gun is the same, but no scratches.

That second conversion I really like the cylinder stop slots.(hold on to that thought for repairing damaged cylinders, like Belgian ones specially)could practice in my Pietta :O)

Just got a new Pietta 1851 Colt .36. This is my first small caliber and it shoots sweet. Had to get the wedge out with a sledge hammer, why Pietta drives them in like that is a mystery to me. Anyway the colts sure do look and feel nice.Will try to add pic if I can figger it out. Elglide

This really burns me up I orderd a loading stand from sixgun4fun about 4 months ago.e-mails apon e-mails and no word at all and - $100 bucks and he's like a gost.I think the owner of the company is tom or tim and he used to post on the VOY here,wish someone could find him and tell this guy he has orders to fill.I sent him the money via paypal and then there was no word.Sorry for all the ranting but this burns me up BIG TIME.

I got out a Belgian I had revamped and never test fired.
I shot a little off the bench and after four targets of six shots I went to off hand at objects arounf to shoot at. I made some nice shots even out to 40 yards. The sun was out so the sights were glaring but still managed to get them all "right in there", even if I didn't hit the small object. What was cool was the frequency I did actually hit something as big as a small grapefruit or baseball size from out to 40 yads. I'd say the Belgian is a "keeper". It had the barrel set back and the arbor bottomes and some other things to "set things aright". They got right and made the pistol a real pleasurer to shoot. Like one guy described shooting a gun I worked on for him compared to the way it was,"Cap&ball bliss". That's what I had. Cap&ball bliss. Full loads of 28-30 gr.FFFg and the .451 ball and the lube pill or lubed wool wads. Straight shooter. Wanted to shoot a little right often but that might be me or the gun or both and I have to "test er out some more to tell which. I just put the front sight over a little in the rear sight to shoot center except when I shot from the bench. I still don't have that bench shooting down pat yet. The way the gun flips up and bounces up or whatever affects the shots. Off hand I get a better idea of how a gun shoots even if I don't make every shot a bulls-eye. I'll show a target pic later. I gotta get somewhere.
Anywho I guess the parable of the story is,"if the Belgian is together right it shoots real good". Same ole same ole. If it's together right it shoots good.
One thing.....on my very last shot the dang loading lever catch on the bottom of the barrel was gone. Lost in the dang grass. Looked and looked. Can't find.
I don't want to have to make a replacement. I've been there and done that and the loading lever catches are difficult to fashion from a piece of steel. Dang friggin thing had to pop loose. It had been soldered in the past I could see. They were braised from the factory so this one musta came lkoose for someone else too. Maybe that's why they sold it besides the huge cylinder gap it had. Wonder if the other owner somewhere in the past lost the catch in the grass and found it again. I've lost things in the grass and even seen about where they fell and never found the part. The grass eats the parts I think. ha ha ha Friggin grass. Wish I cut it shorter. I had a real good shoot on a really nice day and felt good...then I lost that friggin part. Got agitated and depressed and in a bad mood. Oh well. That's life I guess. At least the gun shot good. The trigger it has was a help in shooting well. When I's see the shots hit in the dirt and leaves and then go see the dirt grooves from the balls and they would all be in a pretty small group..well....that's satisfying. Especially shooting at dirt and seeing where the shots go as they go. That is a real pleasure when shooting a gun. Much better than shooting paper. Shooting dirt. That's where it's at. ha ha ha ha

I was hoping to receive my Cimarron Uberti 3rd model Dragoon today, but it didn't come. At least my Pietta single action Starr came. It's been meticulously cleaned, loaded with 25 grains of Goex FFFG black powder, .451 balls, Remington #10 caps and RMC cap guards. Think I'll let it sit and wait for Big Brother Dragoon to come so I can take both to the range.

I have a brand new never fired pietta 1858 army revolver.frame is case hardend and the grips are checkerd,fit and finnish is top shelf.I made sure the nipples unscrew from the cylinder wich they do and lubed the action,wich is very smooth.I also sprayed the brass trigger guard with easy off to give it a patina look,looks good.If you dont like it,it will come of with brasso,but I like the look myself.Cabelas is selling the same revolver for $289 right now,i'm asking $215 shipped no tricks here just a treat for a good price.I'm offering it up to you good fella's first.

I just found a movie on Netflix, Guns of the Civil war. It was really well done mainly about rifles but a whole part on revolvers. How many of each type were produced and what they cost. (Colt 1860 army was $25 to the Govt. and the 1851 pocket sent to California in the 1850's went for $150-200)miners liked them because they were easy to carry while mining.With excellent pics and the problems that the soldiers had with them. Worth checking out.

Had to post this one jus' ta talk about... first thing that came to mind was Wayne's either ".460/.464" Rem or it was Walker. You should a made a barrel patended that as a Conversion(.460 Weatherby) :O) Is there enough barrel on a Walker or Dragoon for
Usin' a .490" ball I'd be all for it, but the new cylinder offered is a five shot. No CAS for that conversion, right?
I like the lok kinda of the ROA lookin' more like the Old Army Remington of 1861 ... but I like the ROA with it's destinctive round bull like barrel.
What do you think about the Clements .50cal ROA Conversion?

OK, so i woke up late this morning. looked around at the clocks. One was an hour slower than the udder. so im fixin to replace the battery, till i saw the digital electric time clock's time, then the computers time..
heck, whats wrong wit me?? i forgots about the time change,

I got a decent pic of a coupla Centaurs Centennials in the evening light. I thought I'd share the new wedge I made for the 6558 I've been working on some. I made it from a used Walker wedge I had laying aroung. Milled it down into an 1860 Colt wedge. Took out the big Walker speing and inserted an 1860 size spring. The slot for the spring is the same on a Qalker as it is on an 1860 Colt.
Anyway I made it and it fits just right. Stops and bottomes the arbor when it's just getting thru to the other side of the barrel slots. That leaves plenty of wedge to tap in when the gun breaks in more. The wedge that was in there went all the way in when I shot it a coupla times a coupla hundred rounds each time. The wedge was still tight being all the way in but I figured that wasn't good enough. I wanted the wedge to be just as it should be when the gun was new. Of course plenty of new guns do't have the wedge exactly the way it should be with the gun barrel tight and the wedge just to the off side of the barrel.
Naturally I had to harden the wedge I put in the gun serial no.6558. I wanted to trim down the lip on the wedge screw side so I figured I'd get the file out and file it down some. Well...I had to use the grinder because the file would not cut the surface of the wedge.
I hardened the wedge with Kasinet casehardening compound. I use a method different than most. I leave the part buried in Kasinet for at least 20-30 minutes being red hot. I use a propane single pot burner and a small casr iron frying pan. I use a roundede bowl type lead pot to put over the top of the pan and the part in there so the heat can be trapped easier. I leave an opening to fire up the propane torch and play it over the top of the pile of Kasinet in the pan that the parts are buried in. That way I can know and be sire when the part turns red and start the timer. The Kasinet turns to red lava looking bubbling red hot compound.
Anyway the wedge should last as long as an original Belgian wedge and probably longer. Longer since I left it a tad longer to get more wedge for future tightneing. I left the off side longer too so when the wedge is hit to take it out the hammer won't hit the tip of the spring and break it off. That's happened to me using my little hammer to stsrt the wedge out.
The wedge I made and fitted is a real nice fit too. It should give good service long after I'm gone and someone else is shooting "The Old War Horse".
Anywhoooo..I'll put a pic in the next page. "The Old War Horse", and "Capt Willard", in the pic also. I call that one Belgian "The Capt. Willard", since I bought the gun from that Gentleman and Scholar. The gun with the cylinder in the white is the one that is the subject of this topic though. I changed the name to "The Old War Horse" from what I called it before ,"The Smoking Gun". When it was named "The Smoking Gun" ,after the person that helped me get it, I always saw an image of a Western looking Hombre with hair sticking out of every surface of his head and face and it began to frighten me.
Anyway my new wedge came out good and I shared a method for hardening stuff too.
You gotta admitt that the 1860 Colt makes a nice picture too. It's the culmination of the Colt design in cap&ballers since the 1861 Navy and the 1862 Pocket Police sprang from it's design. The 1862 pocket Navy was the child of the 1851 Navy that came before the Army Colt in the design evolution. Pic next pg.
